Shadowdark Shadowdark General Thread [+]

Hey everyone, I appreciate your comments about the hireling and henchmen SD question. What about if there was class that was based on using henchmen? My business partner and I are working a Japanese-inspired supplement to Shadowdark called Ninjadark. We have experimenting with a class that might utilize henchmen.

I think that's an interesting idea. There's definitely some cool design space there. It all depends on the execution.

They had late pledges open, so I hopped in while the getting's good :) Thanks for the tip!
The update from a couple days ago provided a link to an alpha version of the PDF, so far it's shaping up to look pretty useful!

I laughed when I saw the line "If the only reason you never caroused in a dungeon was because there wasn't a table for it, well now there is." :ROFLMAO:

The new backerkit campaign from dungeon damsel has launched: Druskara
Probably will not get it, although it seems interesting. But the price is a little to steep for me, clocking in at 149$ for the four books. And although what I read on the page sounds like it should be right down my alley, I am somehow not feeling it. Admittedly, I also don't have a current need for it, and after getting Unnatural Selection previously, I found myself never using it so far, so that surely factors into it.
But maybe someone here is interested!

Yeah, there's a polish there, but I never felt compelled to get Unnatural Selection.

As someone who bought a TON of 3rd Ed Unofficial/3rd party stuff that just collected dust, I never to rarely buy 3rd party material anymore for anything.

I seem to be learning, albeit slowly :giggle:
On another note, I am looking to start an open table campaign with a megadungeon. I want to play with a lot of different people, that delve from a near town or camp, and explore it piece by piece.
Currently, I am thinking about whether I should use Stonehell or the Caverns of Thracia. As I own both, I would prefer to use one of them. I think I really like both, but I am worried to do Thracia justice, storied as it is.

My questions are pretty basic, to be honest.
Does anyone have experience with both?
What's easier to run for a first experience with megadungeons?
What's lighter on prep?
Any pitfalls to look out for?
What's the better choice? Or is there another megadungeon that would be better to use?
