Shatter as sonic damage

...Alternatively, you can target shatter against a single solid object, regardless of composition, weighing up to 10 pounds per caster level. Targeted against a crystalline creature (of any weight), shatter deals 1d6 points of sonic damage per caster level (maximum 10d6), with a Fortitude save for half damage.

Now, if there was a non-crystalline entity with Sonic vulnerability, but weighed -say- several hundred pounds; could this spell deal damage to it? Or is it useless unless the caster can affect the entire creature's mass?

He's asking about non-crystalline, not crystalline.

Kengar, you can't affect a non-crystalline creature; a creature is not an object. And if you attempt to target, say, a table weighing 50 pounds, it will also fail; the single solid object you are attempting to target weighs more than 30 pounds, and is thus an invalid target (assuming caster level 3, say).
