Shemeska, what do you think of the 4e MotP?

The 4e cosmology has no yugoloths, no modrons, no guardinals, no eladrin celestials, no active Blood War (the Abyss and Hell are literally on opposite sides of the cosmos), no Outlands (nor anything covering the same metaphysical territory).
I think you're being a tad disingenuous here about the 4E cosmology, Shemeska, at least to the extent that I understand each of these concepts.
  • In 4E, any of the creatures formerly known as "Yugoloths" can still exist, and some already do. There's no layers/realms/dominions/demiplanes explicitly devoted to them, but the MotP explains that there are plenty of astral dominions which haven't yet been written about.
  • In 4E, there's no Modrons officially written up, but there's plenty of space in the Astral Sea for you to put them.
  • In 4E, again, there is plenty of room for the Outlands in the Astral Sea.
  • In 4E, there is a Blood War; it revolves around Asmodeus trying to claim for himself the shard of ultimate evil at the "bottom" of the Abyss, in order to lord over even the other gods. The demons oppose the diabolical legions because they would prefer the universe destroyed rather than dominated. Generally, the 4E Blood War is microcosmic of the struggle between the gods and the primordials.
  • In 4E, there are the same Eladrin powers that existed previously, except now they are explicitly Fey rather than Celestial. (Keep in mind that even though the Feywild is the general home of the fey, many live in the Astral Sea as well. For example, Corellon's Astral Dominion makes "worldfall" into the Feywild at times.)
  • In general in 4E, no, there aren't any celestials, as they existed in previous editions. There are Angels, and even these are not explicitly good, but rather explicitly devoted to the gods. Still, there's plenty of room for them in the Astral Sea...

1) The massive amount of blank white space in the layout of the book is annoying to no end
Well, that is not good. Value for my $ is a big deal to me and as such blank space in a book really gets to me knowing that it could have been more content. {IMHO this was also a huge problem with some 2e planescape books; huge art, oversized 'setting quotes'. meaningless squiggles and plenty of blank space.]

FWIW, I didn't really notice much white-space in 4E MotP, Frank, but then obviously I wasn't looking for it. Each chapter of fluff fills right to the end of the page, so you think you're about to learn some more about the Feywild (for example), but then you realize that the book has moved on to the Shadowfell. I consider it one of best value 4E hardcovers so far.

In comparison, I definitely noticed all the white-space in the 4E Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide the first time I looked at it.
