D&D (2024) Should 2014 Half Elves and Half Orcs be added to the 2025 SRD?

Just a thought, but given they are still legal & from a PHB, but not in the 2024 PHB, should they s

You're the one who said that if there wasn't a mechanic for something then it didn't exist in the game. I understood that statement quite well. If you want to walk back that claim, go right ahead.
That sentiment doesn't equate to "D&D is a boardgame". Rather, it asserts that mechanics are not less important than narrative, both are valued together by many gamers.

No, you are running a 5e/5.5e/3pp game of "D&D" which is not a 2024 game, its a customized version of a D&D game from a combination of resources.
Except the 2024 PHB let's me use older resources right in the text.

Backgrounds and Species from Older Books

Backgrounds in older D&D books don't include ability score adjustments. If you're using a background from an older book, adjust your ability scores by increasing one score by 2 and a different one by 1, or increase three scores by 1. None of these increases can raise a score above 20.

Similarly, species in older books include ability score increases. If you're using a species from an older book, ignore those increases and use only the ones given by your background.

Also, if the background you choose doesn't provide a feat, you gain an Origin feat of your choice.

Level 3: Sorcerer Subclass
You gain a Sorcerer subclass of your choice. A subclass is a specialization that grants you features at certain Sorcerer levels. For the rest of your career, you gain each of your subclass's features that are of your Sorcerer level or lower

PHB 2 would not have been able to revise the core mechanics or redesign classes. It could only add new options.
Where I disagree with most people is that I don’t see this as much of a distinction. There’s still 2 versions of every class, and whether you choose to deprecate one in place of the newer option is always going to be up to the table.

That fact doesn’t change whether a new book is a revision (“a new PHB”) or a continuation (“a PHB2”).

If WotC had instead put out a PHB2 with 6 revised classes and 6 new classes, that wouldn’t really change the conversation around the relationship between the 2014 and 2024 versions of a class.
