Just a thought, but given they are still legal & from a PHB, but not in the 2024 PHB, should they s

Which, just like the “is it a new edition” conversations, is pointless semantics. No matter what term people use, for actual games everyone involved will ask questions to determine exactly which resources are available.

These conversations are driven far more by people’s desires to catalog and draw exact boundaries rather than by any actual utility.
Yeah.

Tashas Cauldron of Everything is 5e. Strixhaven is 5e. 2024 Players Handbook is 5e. All of it is 5e.

Each and every 5e table will need to decide what setting and options are in play, and what exact boundaries will be true for a particular campaign.

All of this is 5.0.

The term "5.5" is unofficial and not even widely accepted among the fanbase.

2024 PHB literally is 5e − literally 5.0.

Walked into a FLGS in a different city.

Shop owner asks what I'm after "Just looking over your RPGs."

His response? "Have you seen the new 5.5e PHB? We even have the special cover!"

So no. Its 5.5e thanks.

Besides, give me the rules if I want to play a Fighter in 5e.

2014?
Level Up?
TotV?
2024?

The answer cannot be 'Yes'.

2024 is a replacement of 2014. This is known.
There is little or no difference between 2014 Players Handbook plus whatever official modifications (Tashas, Ravnica, Eberron, etcetera) versus 2024 Players Handbook plus 2014 as one of the many official modifications.

All of it is 5e.

Obviously, 5e with or without "Half Elf" mechanics is a setting choice that is equally 5e either way.
