In your opinion, what is the "top fantasy media"?
Can't say which one is THE top.

But the top 10 would be some combination of the top 5-7 fantasy video game series and cartoons/anime, D&D, Warhammer 40k, and ASOIAF/GOT.

LOTR and the Hobbit don't crack the top 5 today. And won't make some top 10 lists today.

Lack of critically beloved LOTR games, movies, and shows recently hurt it. And people don''t read books to know enough lore to bring in more fans.

Media has changed.

You and I have batted around this "multiverse" word a few times. How important is the Multiverse to D&D? It is extremely important. It is the default setting for D&D. It is all of our worlds. It is all of the worlds that our fans create. They are ALL part of this multiverse. And they are all welcome. And they are all important. ... The multiverse is our setting. And look! It is magnificent to behold. ... While still making it clear that, hey, youre the DM! What you show of this multiverse is entirely up to you.

They should consider putting statements like this in the product, as opposed to a promotional video, if they want it to matter to the bulk of their consumers.

Except that 5.5 is always used in a negative context and never in positive.

Add to that the wide eyed innocent expression of, “I heard an FLGS owner say 5.5, therefore that proves it’s not a negative “ or the claims of “many” people think this or that way.

No one uses 5.5 edition as a neutral term. That’s already been poisoned by years of edition warring. And I’ll take it a step further. If someone honestly thinks that it will be taken as a neutral term, they would be wrong. It might be meant neutrally but it won’t be taken that way.
Nothing you said rings accurate based on my experience. Experience here, on Reddit, on another D&D board, on many YouTube channels, on two active Discord channels I am on, or with any of the 17 people I play with. Morrus himself said he is calling it 5.5 here, and I am pretty sure he doesn't mean it as a negative.

I think you might be making an unwarranted assumption here.

The 2024 Players Handbook is clear enough. The ten species are "options". The Cleric class is explicitly openended to handle various kinds of cosmological assumptions. And so on.
