Should I Be Scared?

Andrew D. Gable

First Post
So. For a long time now, about four-five years, I've been working on this megaplot for a modern horror game. The groundwork for the story was laid back after WWII, and it involved the Babalon Working, which John W. Parsons, a student of Aleister Crowley, conducted, ending on January 15, 1946 (fact). Of course (also fact), the most infamous unsolved LA murder, the Black Dahlia, happened on January 15, 1947, exactly a year later. So I made it into a nifty horror plot, tying the two, saying while he was doing the Working, Parsons contacted some spirits (Grey aliens) and the sacrifice was needed to gate them through. Nice plot, right?

Then I tied in other stuff that happened in 1947: the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the foundation of Israel, the starting of the UFO age and Roswell, and the death of old Aleister himself, who I said was offed by the aliens he helped gate through. Basically, I said Parsons succeeded in what he was trying to do. And, of course, now it would be up to the PCs to stop it from going any further!

Now what's frikkin' eerie.

It's almost all real.

Except for the bit about the Dahlia, it's all real pseudoreligious beliefs had by some latter-day Crowleyans. Independently, not knowing about these modern-day guys, I hit on the exact same thing they think.

Dangnabbit, that sorta freaked me out a bit.

Well, the actual and paranormal events that took place in 1947 are of the historical record. It's a natural human tendency to make connections. I'm not surprised.

Sounds like a great game. And it is pretty creepy, even minus the connection to the real world.

Demiurge out.

Not at all, it's perfectly ordinary for people to take totally unrelated events and think they can find connections between them. Humans are, after all, a species that is hard-wired to look for patterns in day to day life. I wouldn't worry about it at all. In fact, I'd recommend calling in sick today to get some rest. Why don't you go take a sip out of that soda on the top shelf of your fridge, go have a lie down on the couch, close your eyes, and just rest a while.

Yes. Close your eyes. Put it from your mind. Make sure your co-workers know you won't be in today. Close your eyes.

And ignore those faint scrabbling noises.

(Gnarlo, I find your avatar hilarious in light of your post, sorry)

Of course all conspiracy theories are true and the world is being secretly run by the Barvarian Illuminatii, who are a front for the Grey Aliens, who in turn are a front for the Great Old Ones, and who are they hiding?

What the hell are those?

Are they vampires that suck something other than blood from their victims, or ones that walk around in daylight, or what?

No, they pump blood back into people :D
Honeslty I have no clue.

It's not too weird. People have stolen my ideas all the time before I thought of them, like I think of a great idea next thing ya know I'm reading the paper and find out someone else has thought of the exact same thing and done it. Just more proof that time travelers from the future steal all my great ideas once I implement them in the future.
