Should I even bother with 3E anymore?

I mean with 4e on the horizon (so to speak), should I even bother spending anymore hard earned $$ if 3e is going the way of the dodo? An adventure or so to pass the time, maybe, but what would be the point of buying anymore supplements if they are going to be obsolete within the next year or so?

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any rules supplements in these last months before the release. It's one of the 'big' things that a lot of peole said indicated that 4e was on the way in the first place.

Having said that, I've got City of Brass on order from Amazon.com and will probably get the Goodman Games Whiterock boxed set. I suspect it'll take some 'adjustment' time to get used to 4th ed and will be using those products until all is said and done. I mean while not years away, it ain't coming out tomorrow.

If you've already made up your mind to drop 3E, then no. Why bother? If you're undecided about 4E and the DDI then I would take a look at some of the many outstanding 3.5 products that are available. Chances are that you'll find them for cheap bucks on Ebay.

Do you like 3.X? If so, then you're getting ready to have some of the best bargains in gaming within your grasp- discounted hardcover sourcebooks.

So, keep checking used book retailers or your FLGS's discount area in the coming months for great bargains. You're going to find 50%+ discounts on titles you want within a few months.

The nice discounted prices will probably be the only reason I buy a lot of the 3.5E books. Adventures I might buy regardless, but a number of books on my to-buy list have dropped right down my list with 4E being announced.

I probably wouldn't buy any rulebooks, but why not adventures (as long as you plan to use them before 4e arrives)? I mean, you're probably going to only use them once.

Any book that has OGL stuff in it will still be viable to me as I plan on doing some fun stuff with it IMO. So if it has OGL I will consider getting it. Which in affect means no post 3.0/3.5 SRD WoTC stuff. other than UA.

So, nothing 4e will be OGL?

There will be a 4e OGL/SRD, according to the posts we've seen here and at WotC's boards.

My $0.02, a good book is a good book. If it's cool, buy it. You'll find a way to use it down the road. I still use some 2e books for inspiration.

QFT.

That mindset is why I own some GURPS books even though I hate the system.
