I, for one, am untrustworthy in an environment with polls and basically few rules. When I used to post to Randomlings, -every- post was a poll, even if it was just a stream-of-consciousness set of answers to a non-existant question that was 100% unrelated to the thread.

You still didn't answer the question. :D

The no off-topic polls thing is, in my opinion, a remnant from a time when General (and to some extent Meta) were the only places to put off-topic conversation.

Now that all off-topic stuff goes in here, I think the off-topic area should allow off-topic polls. I would say that if it starts to cause a problem they could always go back to the way it was.

I say yes, but with reason - e.g. cut off points, not too many at a time, fairly worthwhile topics (I nearly went only worthwhile topic, but remembered that means that all the 1000th post threads, all hivemind threads should also really go)

Yes, I think they should be allowed.

If they get too silly, people will probably ignore them anyway.

Somehow, I fear that I may end up being responsable...

I think they should be allowed as long as they seem to serve some kind of purpose. Basically I think it should be up to the moderators discretion. If the board starts getting so flooded with nonsensical polls that the mods are spending too much time reviewing and shutting them down, then the idea could be revisited.

But hey, its not my rules and I'm not the one who has to keep an eye on things, so what do I know.

I'd usually say to put this in Meta, but not nearly as many people will see it in Meta. It staying in OT seems appropriate.
