Siege at Bodrin's Watch DM question *potential spoilers*

Ladies and Gents,

I just finished re-reading the 2nd SOW module for preparation, and then started to read the 3rd installment (Shadowrift of Umbraforge) when I saw something in the plot that I must be missing.

It mentions in Shadowrift that a group of baddies are looking for the PC's and the brass key that they found when they defeated the main dude from Bordrin's watch. What? Did I miss that explanation in the Bordrin's watch module? I can't find anything relating to a brass key... maybe I'm getting too old to DM?!?!?

Nope. It really, legitimately isn't there. Threw me for a loop as I read through them, too.

Having only just bought a DDI subscription, I don't know whether continuity improves between later installments.

It would be hard to get worse. :)

There's a sidebar a few pages into Umbraforge that discusses the retroactive addition of the brass key. Unfortunately it's placed after the Adventure Background section that goes on and on about how the PCs got the key from some named NPC in the previous adventure. I went back to Siege and searched through it before concluding there was no key, then switched back to Umbraforge, turned the page, and then saw the sidebar.

Thanks to all of you for the help. I like to run the pre-made stuff since I never have time to develop my own like I used to in the past. I was really excited to see the SOW path since my guys thought that the Red Hand of Doom was the greatest adventure of all time. Now that we have started RAR, I am looking ahead to see how the story plays out. I was pulling my hair out trying to find that STUPID key! ;) I knew this was the place to find the answer.

Continuity does get better as the modules progress.

That said, I'd definitely recommend reading them all now, rather than just before you plan to run them--You can give yourself additional opportunities to forshadow future developments, portray fleetingly mentioned characters and locations with the detail their given in later adventures, and so forth.

I'm glad I didn't start running this until recently. It definitely gives a DM a chance to read ahead and do exactly as you suggest.

Hey guys. It looks like the question has already been answered, but in case anyone is wondering I'm trying to get together a list of notes to enhance the continuity between the SoW modules over on the Gleemax boards. I've written up some notes for the first three so far, and a few others are beginning to join in. If you'd like to peruse what we have, or contribute something of your own, feel free.
