My bad. I didn't see their posts. I'd assumed it was you since you quoted my original post (whereas the others didn't), and you have a history of thread necromancy. My apologies.
 

A interesting thing with money and coinage is that they are based on trust, that they will be accepted as valid currency everywhere in the country or empire that produced them.

As a result of this coins could have a value higer then the price of the precous metals in the coins.
For example a Roman denarius (silver coin) had a monatary value of about 1.6 times it's silver content.

But if you traveled outside the empire it's purcasins power dropped to it's silver content
