Single guys and gaming (yet again)

Hrmm I definitely think the government should do something to limit the opportunities for gamier... uh I mean gamer geeks from breeding....

About 6 months ago, there was a thread highlighting a matchmaking service that was basically filled with girls that liked "geeky" things.

The Onion has some personals, and most of the people on there seem to be pretty geeky. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a lot of gamers on there.

no meepo, the one i (and i think utrecht too) am talking about was an online personals service *specifically* geared for geeks. i bet it's still around too...

LOL.

I turned Denise back onto game.

But there is a downside... I have these nightmares that one day she may find another man (or woman for that matter) who gives better game.

And BOY does the "Hey Hound, let's game" get irritating sometimes.

"Denise, want to go shopping today?"
"No, let's stay home and game"
"How about go out and visit Sooch?"
"Okay, but call ahead and make sure he's free to game"
"Uhmmm... how about we play a board game with the kids after dinner?"
"Nah, let's Game instead"

I'm not sure, but I believe the "geek oriented" dating site is brainappeal.com . At least that looks a lot like what I remembered it looking like, but I'm pretty sure that we decided that it was a scam of some type. When it first went live, there were over two times the numbers of girls that were members than there were guys, and this for a "geek site". Note: Be leary of a site that has a girl claim to be Gary Gygax in her profile :p

I never thought of searching Match.com though, might have to look at it.

I actually registered at the Onion in a moment of weakness...;)

It's a bit of a scam, as to send a message back or forth, you need to pay 'em, but you could easily include an IM or e-mail in your profile so that people can get a hold of you without that...and if you've got your picture there, you got a chance to get published and pick up a LOAD of people all gawkin' at your visage.

Match.com...I now am intrigued...(puts on some e-cologne)....let's go! :)

yeah, that might be it. it does look like what i remember, too. sure, it could be a scam, but hey - until they try to get money out of you, just have fun with it. :)

Actually, this might not be too far from the truth - apparently Silicon Valley is having a massive rise in autism amongst the youths, which is being blamed on the genetic factors of the parents. Apparently a lot of "geeky types" have autism to a certain degree...

On the other hand, I remember something about people employed by the site having profiles there and persuading people to do a paid registration to continue communication. Might not be that site, but something to be aware of when you're using online personals
