What is the vampire quota of runtime to be a “vampire” movie?
Knew absolutely nothing about this movie, didn't know it was coming, started hearing about it on social media, knew it was a horror movie, and that was literally it.
I thought it was wonderful. The music, the set design, the history, the costuming, it all blended together beautifully into something really original, IMO. I think one part kind of dragged 2/3rds of the way through, but the whole is fantastic. Truly makes me think it's time to just avoid any and all trailers on movies because watching something completely unprepared is a great feeling.
Yup. The movie took enough time to introduce the setting and characters, establish stakes and make the audience care. It's one of those questions. The more you think about it, the more you realize how much you shouldn't.
The answer, of course, is "none". That's not how movies work. That's not how stories, discussions, or even language works.
Agree. On top of vampires the singer also has some type of supernatural elementVampire stories have been used for social commentary going back to one of the first pop culture depictions of a vampire in Varney the Vampire/The Feast of Blood where the titular character was used to express frustration with the Victorian class system.
Because among the many other topics the movie addresses it's dealing with the relationship between African Americans and Christianity in the United States. The opening scene is even a sermon being given in a church.
Why does it have to have a jump scare?I’m not bashing the movie but there wasn’t even an attempt for a jump scare in the movie. I’m actually complimenting it in other ways.

Your definition of horror or vampire moves is very specific. It’s like me saying Iron Man is not a superhero movie because nobody has a cape and Superman The Movie isn’t because Superman doesn’t show up until an hour in.
