Six From Gate Pass - A War of the Burning Sky Campaign (3.5)

Lars, maybe its the distraction of being burned by flaming oil for 1 point of damage, or the pile-up of armored bodies near the front door, but you find it difficult to get a clear shot and your bolt flies harmlessly through the doorway.

Arnir's eyes grow wide as the falling oil threatens to make a mess of his new cold weather clothing, and he does his nimble best to avoid contact with it. He remains in the corner of the room, but takes aim with his longbow at the Half-Orc at G5, notches an arrow and smiles a bit as it releases with a "THWIP". The smile blossoms into a full grin as the arrow smashes through the chest of the unfortunate scout and he mutters "Maybe that will give these sons of whores something to think about."

Arnir, your arrow strikes the scout in the chest with a sickening crunch as it rips through flesh and snaps sternum and ribs like twigs. The scout slumps against the wall before falling to the ground, leaving a trail of smeared blood on the wall.

Alric allows a curse to escape his lips as the debris begins to fall upon him. Realizing flight from this building is the best option he resolves to exit upon the corpse of the man in front of him.

Alric thrusts his sword at the thug in J8. If the thug goes down he will attempt a 5ft step into J8.

Start of Round 3

Alric, your attack is easily blocked by the Thug's shield and falling oil seeps through your armor and scalds you for 1 point of damage.

GM: It has stopped dripping flaming oil into the room, so no more need for saving throws. However, the debris on the ground is still burning. I've also updated the map and increased its size to include the alley and street, as some have indicated a desire to leave the pub. Also, ignore the second floor that is displayed in the map. It was there in case anyone went upstairs before the fire. Remember that the second floor is a raging inferno at this point!

Hrimr hurls another dart at the Half Orc (F6). He sneers at the Half-Orc:

"Here's a parting gift"

He then move to the spot where he dropped his sling (I12).

"Yes, through the back! Let's get out of here!"

Despite benefiting from cover, the acid dart melts through the wood of the bar and blasts the scout in the face once again. The acid scours every ounce of flesh from his face, liquefies his eyes and corrodes his now bare skull. His corpse slumps to the ground, giving off a noxious smoke and his brain leaks through his eye sockets.

Kirio decides it is time to take things outside, see what's what as it were. (move to I 14, look around corner to where thugs are, see if they are alone, using stealth to avoid notice).

Kirio curses yet again seeing the added company, moves back (f 13) and readies another arrow "#$%#@%@%^$#&#%## and here I thought we were getting out, sigh". To the others "two more thugs, an angry looking dog and a grim looking fellow on a heavy warhorse, armored with a greatsword on his back, the leader of this merry band I'd say, birght ideas anyone?"

OOC: nothing further for me, oops, ofrgot about the half movement, @$@^@$^$#^@$@$ (elven swearing) duh!

Kirio, you open the alley door and peer outside. Two more thugs wait in the alley, one holding the leash of an attack dog that snarls when it notices you. Out in the street, you see a large man on a heavy warhorse. The man wears a well used suit of half-plate, has a great sword strapped to his back and his horse is clad in scale mail barding. He wears a helmet so you are unable to make out his features, but you notice that he has his arms crossed and appears to be facing the front door.

GM: Kirio, you can only move at half speed when using stealth (though you're in plain sight, so the thugs had no trouble seeing you), so I've stopped you with one square to spare in order to let you make a decision as to whether you want to continue into the alley or not. You've moved and opened a door (two move actions) so you're limited to one more square of movement and a free action. Feel free to edit your post accordingly.

I have also updated the map.

OOC: Going ahead and posting since the result of Kirio's movement decision won't affect my action anyway.

Bannock senses the rising danger posed by the burning building, but has now become incensed by the difficulty in landing a blow on this irksome little Ragesian toady. No thought of abandoning the fight enters his mind. He growls and unleashes a mighty downward slash of his glaive intended not to get around the thug's defenses, but to smash them to oblivion.

OOC: Attack roll here is my opposed role for sunder against thug. Thug gets AOO but he's out of range.
