Six From Gate Pass - A War of the Burning Sky Campaign (3.5)

[sblock="what Arnir knows"]Arnir, after searching your mind rather thoroughly, you're confident you do not recall anyone with a crow as a familiar[/sblock]

"Ah yes, the old Elf Road through Innenotdar, I've been meaning to talk about that," says Torrent as she lays out her bedroll. "We will exit the city from a South gate as Bannock notes and then head for the Innenotdar Fire Forest which has been burning for the past forty years. The old Elf Road cuts right through it and I've got a slew of specially made potions, thank Istishia, that will protect us from the heat. Most of the other roads that head to Lyceum will be crawling with Ragesian scouts and I highly doubt they'll be able to follow us through the fire."

She removes her armor and lays down. After propping her head on one arm, she says: "Arnir, wake me up after your shift and I'll continue as well. Oh and Hrimr, I think Lars is a bit scorched and could use some healing. As for leaving the city, again I think we have some choice between trying to get Councilman Menash to assist us, or sneaking out as Lars mentions. I'm sure Alric can convince his old boss at the barracks to get us some uniforms, but we'll need papers. Maybe we can forge some tonight? Anyone skilled in that department? Anyway, I'm wiped so I'm heading to sleep."

GM: I presume Lars and Bannock are sleeping through the night and the rest of you are working on the copy. Thus far it looks like Kirio, Hrimr, Alric and Torrent are going to help copy. If Alric is not helping, just let me know for the purposes of constitution checks in the morning.

Also, if anyone is planning on forging papers/orders to use to escape the city, you're free to take 10 on your linguistics roll given that you're sitting and working tonight anyway. Also, you've likely seen entry and exit papers before so you get another +8 on the roll. Whether you choose to roll or take 10, just let me know as we'll use your value when/if you show it to a gate guard.

Arnir wakes with a yawn, and takes a moment to forge a set of papers before relieving Kirio from the dull task of copying out the notes.

OOC: Arnir's Linguistics has a bonus of +9, yielding a roll of 27 to create the forgeries.

Before waking up Torrent, Arnir looks over at Bannock, soundly asleep on his bedroll under a warm blanket....He chuckles to himself as he sees the burly human's belongings off to the side and very quietly casts Prestidigitation on the sleeping man's pack, soiling it with mud and what seems to be :):):):) of some kind or another.

He taps Torrent to wake her up and suppresses a laugh as he tells her "You're up, Torrent." and heads back to sleep.

Alric nods assent to all the proposed plans, then removes his chainmail and unrolls his bedroll. He falls into what appears to be a deep slumber as soon as he gets comfortable... apparently believing the copying exercise is in good hands.

The Next Morning

A few bells after dawn, Shealis walks into the room and greets a sleepy eyed Torrent who has just finished the copy and is praying to Istishia.

"Good morning!" says Shealis with a slight bow. "I trust you're completed, because Larion and I are departing for Shahalesti immediately."

Those of you who were asleep, begin to rouse and one of the soldiers brings in another hot pot of tea, a few loaves of bread, cured sausages and a small sack of apples.

Shealis gathers up the original book and the maps and places them carefully into her pack. You notice now that she is dressed for travel. "Take your time before leaving and feel free to break your fast. You may keep the case if you like, we have what we need."

"Thank you for your cooperation and hospitality." says Torrent. "I hope we might meet again under better circumstances."

Shealis offers only a nod and then walks out of the room.

Torrent arranges the stack of papers resembling the copied book, and rolls up the maps. She puts it all back into the metal case and places it in her pack. After stretching, she pours herself some tea and sits on her bedroll.

"Well, lets get ready to get moving. We should try and get out of the city and on the road to Innenotdar as soon as possible. Have we decided on our course of action?"

GM: Adventure Status: You have acquired a copy of the Ragesian intelligence. The next stage of the quest requires you to travel to Lyceum through the Innenotdar Fire Forest. Torrent has indicated that she can protect the group as you travel through the flames. However, your first requirement is to escape the city.

Its about 8 in the morning and when you were last discussing, Lars indicated that you should all attempt to sneak out of a gate. Arnir forged some papers to assist with this, presumably containing orders to allow a group of guards to leave. You also have the option of speaking with Councilman Menash in hopes of acquiring his assistance.

Only Torrent is fatigued today, the rest of you can operate normally.

Arnir and Hrimr: don't forget to update the spell planning document to reflect any changes in your spell list for the day

Hrimr walks over to Lars and looks at his burns.

"I didn't realized you were so burned up from the Pub. You should have told me sooner."

Hrimr raises his hands infront of Lars and in a low voice begins to chat in a language unknown to the rest of the party (Druidic). As he does this his hands begin to glow with a soft yellow light. Once his voice goes silent he reaches out and puts his hands on Lars' arms and the soft light dissipates through his body. You notice that his burns begin to heal.

Hrimr smiles and slaps Lars on the arm.

"There you go, much better. Time to catch a wink or two before it's my turn to do some copying."

Kirio feels surprisingly rested after the short rest. A sense of urgency fills him as he stretches, breaks his fast and gathers his things.

"I like Lars's plan, and am skilled in disguise as well if required. I'm inclined to leave this city as soon as possible, and I don't think seeing this Menash fellow guarantees us anything. What say the rest of you?" He finishes stringing his bow, puts on his dark gray cape and seems ready to leave.

Hrimr gets up and stretches his arms. He doesn't feel too bad even though he got less sleep than he would have liked. He hears Torrent and Kirio conversing about today's plan of action

"I agree, sneaking out with the humans dressed as guards escorting the non humans is likely the best course of action."

"I am no expert in subterfuge, so I will trust to your judgments. And if you believe speaking with Herreman will help, and I'm sure he will try to help us, then I will do so." says Alric flatly, looking alert and rested.

OOC: Alric dons his chainmail, straps his shield to his arm and prepares to journey.

Alric glances at Bannock's pack and arches his eyebrow slightly at the sight. "We have a latrine..."

Arnir rises and stretches out his back and neck which are both sore from the night on the floor. All things considered, he feels quite good and helps himself to some tea, bread and sausage. Picking up his cloak and bow, he addresses the group

"Given that we've got these papers, I think we should just try and leave. Maybe a disguise would help some of us, but I'm wondering if the gate guards will be concerned with people leaving at all. I don't think we need to bother with Menash- let's get out of here as soon as possible."
