Skill point allocation advice for a Cleric

I really don't have any PrC's in mind, besides Contemplative (maybe I'll go with Divine Disciple as well).

So, besides maxxing out my Know (Religion), and getting 5 ranks of Diplomacy, what skills are important to a Cleric?

I am pretty sure I'll sink a ton of points into Concentration, but are Know (Arcana) and Spellcraft important?

Heal is a great way to get past a few nasty circumstances. Plus, rp wise you can easily explain how you know who is most hurt, and possibly even to what degree.

Tumble is trained only, and it is cross classed, but if you have a few extra points getting at least one rank in it allows you go through enemy squares. You will almost always provoke an aoo, and is only for clerics who wear light armor, but if you are the walking bandaid incarnate anyway it could be pretty interesting!

If any domains you get give you skills then put points in there ;)

So maybe not incredibly helpful. I hope you work it out to your satisfaction.

You cannot go wrong with spellcraft.

Other skills depend on what kind of cleric you play, and what deity that cleric worships. For example, a cleric of Boccob will have several Knowledge skills, a cleric of Hextor ranks in intimidate, a cleric of olidammara Perform and Bluff.....

This is for a Cleric of Wenta, the goddess of brewing.

The character has taken the Plant Domain, so that will open up Knowledge (Nature).

I don't see what Spellcraft is useful for, so please explain it to me. :)

Know(Religion), Heal, Spellcraft and Concentration are vital.

Spellcraft to identify spells as they are cast -- so you can Counterspell them. Also, to identify spells already in effect, so you can Break Enchantment them.

Heal so you can fix myriad problems without converting all of your spells. Also, so you can identify myriad problems and therefore use the right spell to fix them.

Concentration so you can cast in combat. Also, so you can keep casting even if you're injured.

Ya know, I intended on it, but now that you ask: What is the difference between Craft and Profession?

Craft is to actually make items (like weapons, armor, and alchemistical stuff), and Profession is for background (and earning some coin, but at a rate that no adventurer will find satisfactory). So with profession, you can provide a service.

Don't get Tumble if you don't get a lot. An AoO will stop you if you try to move through threatened area.

In 3.0 you can still move through enemy squares even on a failed check.

In 3.5 you stop before the enemy square.
