Slaughter wighs: Chaotic evil?

Not that necessarily understood why Spectres and Wights were LE before, but... why is the slaughter wight CE when ordinary wights are always LE?

The Slaughter wights go about wrecking shop on a whim. I'd guess the LE undead are set in their ways and behaviors.

1E specters were sent back from LE Hell, so they probably get part of that from being turned into a specter.

Did not one have to be a leader of some type to get a significant Barrow?

Slaughter weights are specifically described, as well, as stalking cities as assassins. If not LE, then NE, focused as they are on killing.

It may be that WotC just picked the wrong alignment for the described behavior; they've done it in other cases (the 3.5 "fire archons" from the 4e preview days of the WotC website spring to mind, but I've seen examples from TSR recently, too).

Good point. I'm just going to assume they wrote CE on the slaughter wight when it should have been LE. It's funny, I was just wondering what would happen if you advanced a wight and added Lurking Terror to it, then got to thinking about Eviscerator and Death Master because of a wight-like creature from the old Companion set that caused fear... then I noticed the slaughter wight, which is very close to basically that. But it's CE, with no expalnation I can discern.
