A bit of a sad episode, though I am puzzled by the turn of Lionel. It was a complete shock that he'd threaten to kill Clark if she didn't go through with the marriage. Was this Lionel's paternal instincts or some grander plan.

I would say grander plan.

I go with grander plan, Clark can't become Superman with Lana. By saying what he did, because Lana does not know his history, he keeps Lana from taking Clark off the path set for him. I don't think he cares a hill of beans about Lex, just Clarks destiny.

So he's doing it for Clark's sake, not Lex's. Interesting take. In fact, I like it better because it means Lionel's actions are still being influenced to a degree from Jor'el's inhabitation of him. He's just still using the methods he's most familiar with. Makes him more complex. Nice.

Ok it makes a lot more sense now. Though I guess I will have to wait and see to understand why Lana would mess up Clark's destiny considering Clark will still be distracted by lois one day.

But Lionel doesn't know that.

Yay!
Finally an episode where the bad guy wins!
Of course he won Lana, so he kind of lost.

I still wish Johnathan Kent lived and Lana bit it.
I liked that character a lot more. Controlled anger beats confused whining every time.

For some reason, I get the feeling that Lana will not survive the end of the season.

Any ideas on what's up with the baby? Does Lex still have access to some of Clark's DNA, producing a super-clone? Is the child his own clone? Something more sinister?
