Smallville "Insurgence" (Spoilers)

John Crichton

First Post
Lex, Lex, Lex. It's all about Lex. :)

Whenever the Luthors are involved, this show really kicks into high gear. There was so much that happened in this episode that should affect the rest of the series:

- Martha's discovery of Lionel's secrets.
- The continuing war between the Luthor men.
- Jonathan Kent vs. Lex Luthor.
- Lionel's "thing" for Mrs. Kent.
- Lex's discovery of the contents of his dad's safe.
- Lex's continued rejection by Jonathan.

Now, all they have to do is not gloss over the events of this episode (like how did Clark get inside and why is Lionel so easy to brush it off) and use them for future episodes and we have one heck of a continuing story.

Now, back to Lex: I think the writers are doing a great job of creating a villain you love to hate. Lex is trying to do the right thing, but his darker half keeps getting the best of him. And when someone has the opportunity to help him, they usually don't because of circumstance. It was interesting to see him reach out for help at the end of last week's ep to his current love interest. I bet that turns out badly for him. Just another kick in the pants towards the evil Lex we all know he will be.

Next week's ep (Lionel getting shot and the mystery of the shooter) looks like a great follow-up. :)

Have to agree. This week's espisode reminds me why I liked the old Superboy comics or rather an updated version. I wish they had this kind of stuff before in the 1st season but so far this season, there's been some exceptional espidoses, whenever the Luthors are involved.

(Btw I missed that part, how DID Clark get in? Did he finally fly?)

Next week espisode, can't wait to see.

Oh, man. You missed an excellent part. He jumps from the Daily Planet Building (very well done for a TV show, btw) and crashes into a 30th floor room in the Luthor building. :)

I hope you can catch the rerun this Sunday.

I'll try. :) I need to catch up on my opium addiction I call Charmed. (I feel back for watching yet come back for more.)

This weeks episode was great and it looks like they might finally kill Lionel. IMO Smallville was getting really stuck in bland storylines and needed to kick it up a notvh. Last week I told my wife that they need to kill Lionel and start develpoing Lex. It looks like I will get my wish.

Clark has many challenges ahead of himself. 1st Lex has to wonder how Clark beat him to Metropolis, how clark got into the 30th story window that was broken from the outside and he will fighure out that the Kent's have the disk. While searching for the ship key, he may discover the ship.

I think we have seen the end of the friendly Lex-Clark relationship.

I think it may be strained a bit but they'll probably still be friends after next week's ep. Also, I don't think Lionel will actually die but that's just speculation. Martha still needs to get more dirt on him from the inside. Their relationship hasn't been fully explored yet. Besides, we still need a scene of Jonathan walking in at an inopportune moment to find her in his false embrace (or something akin to it). ;)

Either way, I think Clark will have something to do with Lionel's eventual death. And Lex will in some way blame him for it. Again, just speculation.

You know what I really love? They could have gone the easy path and made Ma and Pa Kent the paragons they were usually presented as: perfect, happy couple.

I love the fact that they've plugged a lot of conflict into their relationship. It makes them so much more dramatic and gives Clark so much more to deal with.

This show ... each week I love it more and more.

You know what shocked me the most, Martha hiding the disk at the end without even mentioning it to Jonathan and Clark. Luther is supposed to be the family with secerets!

I'm not surprised by it at all. She's scared about it. The ship I mean. She might think that if Clark finds out too much about who and what he is he might leave them. I mean he is always wanting to find out about himself.

Your right this isn't the Kent's I know. The Kents I know think it is his responsiblity to use his powers for good and encourage this.
This incarnation would be happy if he lost his powers. What they don't realize is he would still try to help people, his powers just help him survive the helping.
