Smallville thoughts

I have read where the writers of Smallville would like to have an episode where none other than Bruce Wayne appears in town. Apparently, he and Lex are old private school friends/rivals. The last line in the episodes, at least according to the writers, would have Clark telling Bruce to get some help.

If Bruce does appear, they really should have Tom Wopat appear as Alfred.

I wonder who would make a good twenty-something Bruce? Or, for that matter, a twenty-something, preindustrial accident Jack Napier.

(Pity Sorrel Brooke and Denver Pyle are both dead.)

If I'm not mistaken, AICN reported that Bruce is certainly showing up in Season 3 but I didn't read the whole article as it had spoilers in it. We may be taking about the same thing.

As for actors I'd like to see - I really don't know the 20-something crowd well enough to really say who I would like to see play him. :(

I would prefer if Bruce Wayne was fairly close in age to Clark. I think they are close in age in the comics. Also, it could lead to some attention from Chloe, who might be attracted to a moody resident of Gotham city. The relationship between Clark and Bruce would likely be a bit rough, as they have very different world views. (There is a wonderful line about that in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Can someone dig it up?)

As for the relationship with Lex, an easy one is that they have meet and maybe play chess online.

As for Alfred, I would prefer a British actor or someone who can do a good British accent to Tom Wopat. Maybe Tom Wopat can show up as an old friend of Jonathan having a rough time.

Nah, it's better to have Bruce Wayne closer to Lex's age than to Clark's. He doesn't have to be the exact same age as Lex's (probably one to three years younger) but he should be at a point where he is travelling on his own, getting the right training that would eventually be used for his future career as the World's Greatest Detective.

And I don't think I would like Tom Wopat to be his butler, but a close (high school) friend to Jonathan or even ... hehehe ... a cousin. :D

P.S. I'm still waiting for them to cast a Young Lois Lane (cheerleader?) from Metropolis High School visiting Smallville for a homecoming game. Then again, now that Clark is running away from home and possibly staying in Metropolis, that's a great opportunity to showcase a college freshman Lois Lane.

Perhaps this is the monologue you are looking for?

From Dark Knight Returns issue #4, during Batman and Superman's fight:

Batman (internal monologue): You sold us out, Clark. You gave them the power that should have been ours. Just like your parents taught you to. My parents ... taught me a different lesson ... lying on the street ... shaking in deep shock ... dying for no reason at all ... they showed me that the world only makes sense when you force it to.

later, at the battle's climax:

Batman (internal monologue): We could have changed the world. Now look at us ... I've become a political liability and you, you're a joke. I want you to remember Clark, in all the years to come, in your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.

I think we've already met Lois.

I have always told my firends I would like to have seen Bruce Wayne showing up on Smallville. Maybo his car breaks down in town or something.

I always though Tom Wopat should be a friend or cousin :D of Jonathan Clarks. Drives up to the house in a beat up old orange Dodge Charger. Door is stuck shut so he has to climb out the window to get out.

My script for Jonathan meets Tom

Jonathan- "You still driving that old thing around."

Tarrasque Wrangler, thanks for the quotes. The first is what I had in mind.

The contrast between Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent on Smallville should be sharp. Let's hope the producers get this one right.

Hmm, if Clark is 16 in season 3, and Lex is in his early 20s, possibly Bruce could just be a few years older than Clark.
