& Sneak Attack: Skills and Proficiencies

It's called the SIEGE Engine. C&C.

Agreed. While I'm in favor of some consolidation I'm glad they're not taking it any further than they currently are. One of beefs with SWSE is its merger of Diplomacy and Intimidate. I'm glad they're not making that mistake again.

*Shrugs shoulders* I still wonder though, with it less being skill points and more access to skills that will be important it seems if Intelligence could take a more dominant role then before in terms of skills in general so...

I wonder what if Intelligence was used as a additional modifier, so be like...

Ability Modifier + Class Level + Skill Points + Intelligence Modifier.

This could go with the idea that with more intelligence you more easily learn how to do something, but you would still require the basic ability to perform it well. So like the ability is how you use it the intelligence is how you refine and perfect it.

So as such Intelligence isn't used to gain extra skill points when you divide out your skill points each level, instead it is a stock number you gain from your Intelligence modifier for all skills, or perhaps could be intelligence score if skill points are much higher this time around.

Hmm... Also with more things being encompassed in 1 skill I wonder if they may pull a Storytelling System deal where you put your Skill Points into this all encompassing skill but then certain tasks within that skill have their own rule.

For example Larceny which is WW version of Thievery has: Bypass Security System, Lockpicking, and Sleight of Hand they all essentially use the same dice pool (D&D: d20 + Skill Points) but the rules for the effects are different.

So perhaps in D&D 4e all these skills that got swallowed up are still in it for when you use that particular skill just the skill points are more all encompassing.

I'd like something like:"For every 2 points of int bonus, choose one additional int-based skill; for every 2 points of dex bonus, choose one additional dex based skill; etc."
I thought about that once. But characters already gain a bonus to skill checks from score modifiers. It'd be a "bis in idem".

MAking another comparison between 3.5 and 4E rogues:

3.5: Rogues are proficient with all simple weapons, plus the hand crossbow, rapier, sap, shortbow, and short sword

4E: Dagger, hand crossbow, shuriken, sling, short sword

Somewhere in R&C it becomes implicit that everyone gains proficiency with Simple Weapons anyway, so the rogue lost shortbow, sap and rapier, and gained shuriken. It seems the rogue now is all about concealable weapons.

There could then perhaps be a feat to allow a rogue to use all simple weapons in sneak attacks or maybe a Rogue Power at a later level.

This could actually make sense in-game in that earlier on it be easier for a Rogue to use a sneak attack with a small, concealable, easy to use weapon. But as a Rogue becomes better at the sneak attack he can use more awkward and larger weapons.

That's honestly brilliant.

Feels more like rpg.net Lizard, though.

Is the preview throwing your scheduling off?
