yep, if your dm lets you buy a ring o blinking, you'll be a happy rogue (mine is)

Actually, ALONE, a Ring of Blinking -sucks- for a Rogue. Read the Blink spell description; your attacks ALSO suffer the 50% miss chance (ugh), because even YOU don't know when you will suddenly go ethereal for a second ot two.

However, there's a fix (which works both ways): GHOST TOUCH. Get ghost touch weapons, and THEN ... you can tool on your opponents 24/7/52. :D

No, its a 20% miss chance you suffer, enemies suffer a 50% miss chance. So its unlimted AC 50% of the time. MY DM has been saying a lot lately 'Ok the enemy hits you 3 times. Yeah, I know 50% miss chance. roll roll roll. Ok, forget it, he misses 3 times'
I've had the ring for about 4-5 sessions, and we usually have on average 2 or 3 combats a session. I think I've only had 1 miss with the ring. Now, combined with Expert Tactician, I get an extra attack every round against targets I am in melee with

Blink
Transmutation
Level: Brd 3, Sor/Wiz 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Personal
Target: The character
Duration: 1 round/level (D)
The blink effect rapidly cycles the character in and out of the ethereal plane. Blinking has several effects:
Physical attacks suffer a 50% miss chance, and the Blind-Fight feat doesn't. If the attack is capable of striking ethereal or incorporeal creatures, the miss chance is only 20%. If the attacker can see invisible creatures, the miss chance is also only 20%. If the attacker can both see and strike ethereal creatures, the attacker suffers no penalty. Likewise, the character's own attacks suffer a 20% miss chance.
Individually targeted spells have a 50% chance to fail against the character while blinking unless the character's attacker can target invisible, ethereal creatures. Likewise, the character's own spells have a 20% chance to activate just as the character goes ethereal, in which case they typically do not affect the Material Plane.
While blinking, the character takes only half damage from area attacks (or full damage from those that extend onto the Ethereal Plane). The character strikes as an invisible creature (+2 attack), denying the target any Dexterity bonus to AC. The character suffers only half damage from falling.
While blinking, the character can step through (but not see through) solid objects. For each 5 feet of solid material the character walks through, there's a 50% chance that the character becomes material (see below). The character can move only at three-quarters speed.
Since the character spends about half the character's time on the Ethereal Plane, the character can see and even attack ethereal creatures. The character interacts with ethereal creatures roughly the same way the character interacts with material ones.
An ethereal creature who becomes material while in a material object is shunted off to the nearest open space and takes 1d6 points of damage per 5 feet so traveled.

Wrong on all 3 counts. It's a 20% miss chance, as mentioned already. And Ghost Touch doesn't help because you are ethereal, NOT incorporeal. They are separate and different special abilities. You would need a houseruled weapon enhancement like, I dunno...Ethereal Touch? Better hope no ghosts get ahold of one of those weapons...ouch (or any enemy with Etherealness). Also, the ring has to be activated (standard action) and lasts only 7 rounds, which sucks. Still, my rogue uses it in most battles, using the first round to buff up. It works best when you have a round or 2 prior to battle to prepare.

I think rings are continuous unless you activate/deactivate them. This was under debate recently. You can check it out here.

I haven't checked out the thread, but I disagree with your assessment, for these reasons:

1."On command, this ring makes the wearer blink, as with the blink spell."[emphasis mine]

2.Blink has a duration of 1 rnd/level, caster level of ring is 7=duration of 7 rounds.

3.SRD:"Activation:
Usually, a ring’s ability is activated by a command word (a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity) or it works continually. Some rings have exceptional activation methods, according to their descriptions."

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Continuous rings are rings of warmth, elemental resistance, etc. If you read the ring descriptions, they state whether they are continuous or work 'on command', etc. Sorry.:D
