Last time I talked to him in person was at PAX Dev; but job titles are always kind of funky and stuff. :-p Per your latest chart that you linked above; he's "senior manager". So I don't know how the chain goes up from him to Leeds, but I can't imagine that there are that many more levels?

He's R&D. Which is different to brand, legal, etc.

Since Slavicksek's departure, I've been pretty fuzzy on the organizational link between R&D and Branding/Marketing.

... He likely has a manager above him who manages, who has a general manager above him, who reports to the CEO. It's getting all the middle and upper management on board that's tricky.

The most recent confirmation I know about re: mearls' relative position within wotc was Stan's blog post (last year?) about leaving the company. At that time, mearls reported directly to the vp of R&D, just as a junior executive would.

15. It's a department of 15.

Dammit! Why can I not remember that damn number?!?

(In my defence, I am suffering from a migraine today, which is crippling my brain. You would not believe how long it took me to write this. I just know I'm going to reread today's NaNoWriMo words and just wince again and again.)

From Mike's recent reddit thread:

"Hello Reddit!

"I'm Mike Mearls, head of research and design on D&D at Wizards of the Coast. I was co-lead designer on D&D fifth edition."

Cheers!
