22 years. I started as a third grader while visiting my uncle and his family in Baton Rouge for Christmas. I'm 30 now.

First Time...

I started in 1993 after playing some of the old SSI computer games. I was surprised when I found out you could play it with dice and paper at the time, and haven't looked back since. It did take me a while to actually get books of my own, however...

Do we have any real old timers around who've been playing since the very beginning?
I bought my first D&D boxed set (a small white OD&D boxed set) in 1979 or 1980. However I was unable to play since my English was poor at that time, and the rules were terrible, almost incomprehensible (people should read the PDF of the OD&D game, if they can find them). Then, four years later I did find a group of players, and we played basic D&D, soon followed by AD&D 1e. Nowadays I have not much opportunities to play because of real life, but I still occasionally buy books, and regularly come here to discuss about the game.

I think I started in 2001. Always wanted to play a RPG since I was 10 or somesuch, didn't find people and buy "the gear" before that. Yeah, I'm a real baby by ENWorld standarts. I'm propably one of the (if not THE) youngest ENWorlders that post more regular as well.

I started in october 81, I was 17, with ADD, after reading a magazine (jeux et strategie) speaking about role playing game coming from wargame and a place where some people met at night to have fun, I think it was just starting in France....I'm still playing :D
