I started playing when I was 11 years old, in 1999. Have been for 7 years, plan to for the rest of my life :D

Yeah, I'm a real baby by ENWorld standarts. I'm propably one of the (if not THE) youngest ENWorlders that post more regular as well.
Well, I'm 18, and started posting when I was 17 last year, so we're in a similar boat :D

I started my first D&D towards the middle/end of my first semester in college in, 2001.

So, I'm relatively new. Almost 5 years at it.

Same for me. I think I had to wait for the AD&D Player's Handbook so we made up our own progressions past 3rd level -- and at 12 and 13 we weren't too big on game balance when making up our own rules...
Hah! Yeah, our early games were made up of a wild mix of rules for the first few years. We didn't really differentiate between the editions, so often we'd have the three booklets, AD&D books, the Holmes book, and the Moldvay book all at the same table during the same game. I think the Holmes book was still kind of the core of our game, though, because I remember using the unique initiative and combat-round sequence from that book for a long time, even with AD&D characters. Gradually, our game morphed into full-blown AD&D.

I was introduced to the game at summer camp in roughly 1978 or '79, but I didn't actually play until I tried AD&D in 1981. I tried DMing (with horrible results) in the summer of '81. I tried DMing again (with somewhat more success) in the summer of 1984.
