So, Robert Jordan has a new WoT book out...

Hand of Evil

Hero
Epic
Saw it yesterday at the book store and I did not pick it up! Yep, I will not be sucked in and buy another WoT book in hardback but as WoT books go, it was thin aand as I read the cover I found it was not really a WoT book but more of the story of how Morina (sp) and Lim get to the Three Rivers. I did not buy it, seeing it as a cheep trick, good story, fun read, but does not move the WoT story forward.

Okay, I rant but if you have read it, is it worth it to pick up? :)

I haven't bought any RJ books since Book 7. I read 8 and 9 from the library, and didn't bother with 10 after hearing so many bad reviews (plus I was in the middle of reading Robin Hobb) and don't plan on reading New Spring either.

Actually, its a book
that starts with Moraine and Siun (the Amyrlin (sp) Seat at the start of the series as Accepted that hear the Foretelling of the Dragon (Rand) being born. It then goes on how they both get raised to the shawl shortly thereafter. It then progresses on Moraine's beginning search for Rand, and end's with her bonding Lan as her warder. That end is probably 15 or so years before Eye starts.

As I said, I thought it was good backstory.

I've read a copy from a friend. It's good but not great and actually only adds to an already bloated story as far as I'm concerned. It's would be like having to read through the Hobbit after the Two Towers from Tolkien.

Wheel of Time too me is like a multiple course dinner.
And as in real life at about the 8th course I'm stuffed. :(

Wheel of Time has been the most disappointing series I've ever read and paid for (I've got the first nine books in english hardcover, just thinking about the money I could have spent on buying RPG books instead makes me kinda sad :().

I liked through 9, then I read 10... I hate the series now. it's way too drawn out. I don't even like reading series of books quite so much now, there's no variation, I like to change the style of the books i read. Also, anyone who has read WoT, but not the 10th one... DON"T READ IT!!! It's terribly boring...absolutely nothing happened, not even interesting dialogue.
