Alternately, take the legends of Thule, assume that there was a pole shift at the time of the flood, and assume that the Garden was in the Northern Canada/Greenland area, and have fun. I believe the next Emmerich movie, The Day After Tomorrow, deals with such a pole shift.
Of course, the lack of any archaeological evidence shouldn't stop you. One can point meaningfully to the lower sea levels and how nobody in their right mind conducts detailed archaeology above the Arctic Circle.
