So, what if a player does a 'weak' build?

Kill the player and take his books which will be distributed amongst the surviving players according to strength.

It's the only fair way to handle this situation.

It's not necessarily a matter of being soft hearted. Some characters are just too easy to kill; there's no sport in it.
That is what the gods made non-lethal damage for.

"Upon seeing your swooping approach, the black knight snorts, sticks the point of his greatsword into the ground, removes his gauntlets, and meets you with a barrage of fists." *roll, roll, roll* "Everything goes red, and then dark."

Repeat as necessary. The third or fourth time the sorceror/favored soul gets cold-cocked by a burly kobold should finally clue him in, and he'll hang up his hat and go open a little tavern somewhere. :D

Your build seems fine for facing(though beguiler is probably better for what you want to do and could be played 1-20). The only trouble is ,as i have seen other characters like it, in combat you usually are gonna windup a liability which is fine if your party can handle it and if not.. well oh no. So i will second the it depends on thep arty. If you have a full party and you are that illustrious 5th character all is good. If they are depending on you for trapfinding or spellcasting in the primary you are a liability

That's how a bard/beguiler should talk. Let's hope they fail their will save against the suggestion :p
