D&D (2024) So what's the new Player's Handbook going for on eBay?

As expected, some of those who bought the new Player's Handbook at Gen Con are selling it on eBay.

The buy-it-now prices seem to vary a lot--$120, $145, $165, $175, $225. There's about a dozen on there that I can see.

I reminded of that one line that Agent K said to Agent J in the first Men In Black movie. Individually, we're okay. It's when we get into groups that we sometimes end up doing questionable if not sucky things.

True, he doesn't have to buy it. He could wait until it shows up on Creative Commons and then look at it for free.

Are the people buying them at the "creative" mark up just as bad as the people who are marking them up?
In order for supply to flourish, there has to be a demand.

Come on people this isn’t life saving medicine we are talking about here, it’s getting a book a bit quicker than you can get it otherwise.

Sellers sell at the best price they think Buyers will buy, it is the foundation of our world economy, not some moral degeneracy

It goes to character. I remember when I worked at the shopping mall and the on Black Friday, when that was still a big deal, there was a line around half the mall for Best Buy to open at 6am. We always had those people that showed up at 1 minute to 6 and tried to walk in and cut the other 500 people that waited several hours in the cold.

No one cut the line here.
The publisher sold the books to the people in the line.
The only entitlement on display here is that people are mad that they couldn't be on the line that was selling the books and have to wait for the official general release.

I am not understanding why people view this as unethical? They paid to go to GenCon (an expensive trip) and stood in line a long time to get this, and bring it back, and pay a fee to eBay, and send it to you. How is that wrong that they put this effort in to see a return on their time to sell it to people who want it at the price they're offering?

BTW there are MANY more now. A couple as low as $70, though I think I just saw that snatched up right away (and no not me).
