So...where does retraining fit in?

What kind of changes did they make, and what problems did that cause? (And why did that seem OK to them at the time?)

I mean, this doesn't sound like a rules-problem, but I'm still curious about the context - I've never had the experience...

It was more a player problem rather than a game problem, I blew the game when one of the players changed his character from a ranger to a dagger master rogue with tons of magic items...

I'm just recalling one PC at my table who has changed class twice.

He started off as a dragonborn pyromancer with a breath weapon. Because of the way he was playing (burninate) we switched him to a sorceror. And to suit him better he's now playing a fire elementalist.

Same character. Same MO (spewing fire all over everything and making them burn). Just a mechanically better fit for the concept each time.
