So where is your world now??

First Post
Hey guys -

A while back we were all up and up working on one pagers. So if you know what I am talking about, where is your world now?

I know my world, has kinda stopped in development. I spent a few days making maps in Photoshop (my computer can't handle things anymore.) I've even worked a bit more on customizing the classes, expanding on the history and such, but now all seems dead the life spark is gone.

This might have something to do with having a full time job and a load of other things I do now, but that is another matter.

I wanted to know if people are still interested in developing their game worlds. I know my world is divided into different themes so you can cross genres within the world (though not all genres are available.)

So far I have a place for:

-the typical fantasy (FR - GH setting)
-the horror type/alien intelligence thing mixed with the apocalyptic things are really messed up thing (think DarkSun and Ravenloft)
-the water world, edge of the ocean thing with some neat ways to move about (think of a cliff world with a waterfall)
-the underground swiss cheese civilization thing (for those who read the old 1e survival guides)
-the great high magic tech empire ( a reclusive bunch)
-the old FR North type area ( I just love the Savage Frontier feel)
-the middle eastern, snake, monk, poison old religion thing
-the old world prehistoric thing with a slight musical twist
-the underwater campaign thing
-the evil empire campaign thing
-the everything thing is new for this civilization thing
-the great horde of evil with multiple plot hooks thing

there is a lot more- but is anyone interested in working on such a place? sounds like a wreck but I know it can be pieced together.

Any takers? Gee now that I look at it I think Rifts without the rifts.

My campaign is set in the World of Greyhawk...

...the underwater campaign thing

...beneath the surface of the Dramidj Ocean...

...the underground swiss cheese civilization thing (for those who read the old 1e survival guides)

...it has a passage leading to the Darksea...

...the water world, edge of the ocean thing with some neat ways to move about (think of a cliff world with a waterfall)

...it's a LOOOONG passage....

...the great high magic tech empire ( a reclusive bunch)

...Ur-Flan influences are present, in a City in the Sea...

...the evil empire campaign thing

...and a threefold covey of hags schemes of evil plots...

...the great horde of evil with multiple plot hooks thing

...nearby, demons conspire against those who hold mystic artifacts...

...the old world prehistoric thing with a slight musical twist

...okay, you got me on this one. :D "Boom-boom-chakalakalaka-Boom! Everybody do the dinosaur!"

Well, I made some compromises on what I'd really like to run to something that was more recognizably D&D. I've taken some of the aspects I really liked best about my two submissions, though, and recombined it into a different homebrew. It's a bit on the back-burner right now, though, thanks to a homebrew for a game that's really more d20 Modern than D&D in it's rules.

My world? Hm. It's DnD3E.

Low-magic, a lot like the Black Company universe. It's got a slight Roman feel, with lots of Latin names, etc.

But then again, I've got a giant, half-continent spanning forest much like Princess Monoke. Giant critters and everything.

And a desert made entirely of broken glass.

A set of Nordic islands.

A small, glimmering star of an Elven nation, a populace of sailors.

A race of desert peoples, sort of like those from Dune. And on their nice little desert island, the Conservatory of Mystic Anomalies, the most advanced place on Eldram - if only they knew.

So, it's a little hard to pin down. :D If something sounds interesting, you wanna hear more, just lemmie know!

MY PLAYERS STAY AWAY

*sighes*

Ok ... Teflon Billy actually said my world was cool and interesting so ill spill a bit about it.

Since my players hardly are ever here.

The world was once ruled by Illithiads and had enslaved humankind. Human shaped gods came and battled the mindflayer gods. The humans started worshipping these human gods. After the war with the mind flayer gods, only two were left. The spider goddess (known as the Weaver) Arioche and the teen aged faced god of sleep and dreams, Morpheus.

They vanquished the Eternal Night and the world began to flourish as Morpheus had Arioche open the earth and he placed the Mind Flayers to sleep and buried them in the center of the earth.

Arioche and Morpheus, the last remaining deities from a powerful and now forgotten God War, knew of an artifact called the Xaos stone. It was said to be a perfect crystal of rainbow colors about 1/2 a foot wide and 2 feet long. They found it and brought it back to Ry'ia (the world) and then to Arioche's and Morpheus' dwellng place, The Palace. A plane where they sat and watched Ry'ia grow and helped the people.

For the longest time it was Morpheus and Arioche who ruled the universe. Until Arioche grew bitter. She grew bitter because she didn’t want to take orders from some young kid. After all, Morpheus did look 18

So she scoured the lands for followers appearing as a beautiful female elf of inky blackness. Fitting, as she was always in space weaving and creating. She found haflings, gnomes, dwarves and even some elves to worship her. She retreated with them to the Underground, where she knew the location of the Illithiads should she need them. She wanted all the Divine Power for herself.

But Morpheus, although young, was all too wise. He scoured the countryside and the world for people who would be willing to help him. Some stayed loyal. Others who got the taste of power decided to help only themselves. Morpheus couldn’t take their powers away so he let them be but they know he’s in charge.

Arioche stole into the Palace one eve under the guise of night and tried to steal the Xaos stone, for its power was to recreate the world in the holders image. But it was gone and Morpheus stood their looking angry.

"I have shattered it and scattered it across the world in 7 pieces. Only when they are rejoined with they hold the power they once did. They are being guarded by chosen who will keep them hidden. They will exchange hands every so often so you will not geth them Arioche."

The Weaver left the Palace and Morpheus went back to the Chamber of Sleep.

The 7 shards were placed with a new group emerging in the world, the Callers. Some called them Callers, others called them Summoners and even others called them Conjurers. Tribes, Clans and even Caller cities were springing up and it was them who had the shards. Aelfin callers, human callers, dwarven callers, there were callers of all shapes and sizes.

The Xaos shards were distrubuted to 7 different clans. The garnet stone of Anger and Temperance; the amethyst stone of Lust and Prudence; the amber stone of Sloth and Fortitude; the opal stone of Gluttony and Hope; the saphire stone of Pride and Faith; the emerald stone of Greed and Charity and the diamond stone of Envy and Justice.

When combined, they create the perfect, unflawed crystal; the Xaos stone. A stone that could unravel the world and re-create it to its holders whim.

But many years have passed and these are all but myths. Technology is somewhat existant and magic prevails. Some nations harness the powers of magic and technology into what is called Magi-tek and some nations have banished magic all together and use nothing but machines who run on steam, called, Mach-team (mash-team).

-------

Thats pretty much my Divine history give or take ...

Mine

I run a psuedo greyhawk setting. I revamped the background and cahnged a few things ahere and there.

The world I submitted is being worked on for eventual publication by my own company. I will either run with "Bandit's Games" or call the company "Trailor Park Productions" :)

I haven't done anything with it beyond the one-pager. Though I would really like to run a campaign set in the "Age of Chaos" of that setting - which is a short transitive period during which magic is appearing for the first time in a highly technological world. I would have the PCs play some of the first spellcasters, thus creating a rich backstory and legends for the period that had the greatest influence on the setting.

Zappo sounds interesting-

Does you world go through some sort of rebirth every so often?

Tell me more about the tech age, and this new birth of magic thing-

I might want to pirate it for a small part-

For my tech section- I went so far as having magic powered cars which can fly, the interweb, video phones, movies, and all out other wonders we have today. Think NYC with the tall buildings and massive bridges. The only thing about my magic tech part is that no clerics are allowed, so medicine exists and so do surgeons. Though some families and people hire or train in the old ways and people pay alot to have deaths covered up and people brought back to life.

I kept working on my world with the plan to publish it myself. I'm currently running a campaign that is now in its 4th month and the 16th session is coming up. I had run into a block trying to create all the towns and cities and people so I figured i I ran some people through it, I could build as they travelled. I hope to have a pretty fleshed out place to game in about a year or so.
