So you went to Gen Con (or not), what other cons do you attend?

I go to Origins every year, but I live less that 45 minutes away, so I can drive there easy..

I used to go the the local con, forget its name, but it was getting really lame and because they kept scheduling it for Mother's Day weekend attendance kept plunging ...

MarCon is a medium SciFi con in C-bus, I went once but there is no gaming and the dealer room catered to goths and ren-faire costumers, not worth parking fees to me

The Central Ohio Comic Con is getting be really big, except that the idiots moved it to one of the big shopping centers in town (Easton) and it is on the first big christmas shopping weekend of the year, Thanksgiving weekend. Idiot con managers ... Once was enough for me.

Do any of you folks do other cons, not necessarily gaming-related cons?

Just Gencon and not all of the time. No non-gaming conventions. I do go to regular gamedays as well.

For me, GenCon is the biggie, and most years, it's the only one I go to. Over the past 23 GenCons (in Kenosha, then Milwaukee, then Indy), I've probably been to 15 of them.

Last year, I went to Southern Exposure (one of the Double Exposure conventions) outside of Philly, because the RPGA co-ordinators (who are friends of mine) desperately needed DMs, and I was able to fly out there on miles.

I went to Winter Fantasy in 2003, the last year it was in Fort Wayne (and thus, a fairly easy drive for me). I've wanted to go to WF again (in DC, I'd have free lodging with a friend), but the past two years, they've placed it on my wife's birthday. :(

Last year's Gencon was my first and only convention experience. Although I'd gladly make a repeat trip to GenCon to game and hang out with my fellow EN Worlders, I doubt I'd ever go to any other gaming convention.

I attend (and in fact help organize) the ENWorld NC Game Days for the same reason that I went to GenCon: All the ENWorlders. I went to TrinoCon last year and even though my game went well, it didn't even come close to GenCon or the fun of the NC Game Days. The commeraderie is where it's at.

Other than Gen Con, I went to the last And Con, the last local Winter Fantasy before it moved out of IL, and have been to Concentric. I'd like to try Origins, but it's too close to Gen Con, and I can't do both. I'll probably hit Conception or Concentric if I can, I know a lot of people involved in those conventions.
