Solo Rogue Campaign

Thank you for all of the great advice, now on to individual comments :)

*Joshua Dyal*
Enemy of the state sounds like a good idea. I can see that happening shortly after the Wyverns Claw stuff. I wanted to get her "all over the map" so to speak, so that plot should wok nicely.

*grodog* Funny you should mention Mr. Liebers work, I had just metioned it to my wife yesterday. She has yet to read his books, so maybe soon...

*jasamcarl* Thanks for the CR advice.

*Ace* She may do the fighter thing, or she may decide to add a level of sorcerer to the mix, just for the sleep spell and various detection type things. Either way, I think it'll work well.

*LostSoul* I plan on using a Background Sheet that I found some time back for 3e that gives a few points for Character Generation to "buy" a few extras, like maybe a feat, or some such. This will serve 2 purposes, 1: Give her a slight boost to her abilities to compensate for being only one PC and 2: Give her an Outline for things background items to come up with. I have used this sheet b4, so I know it works pretty well.

if she does go the way of rogue/caster the one pclass from tomb and blood for rogue's would be excellent as well. I forget the name off the top of my head. Another thing to consider perhaps (and I do this alot with my characters) is that I like Pclasses (just their's alot out their that are either not very good, suited best for NPC's, or otherwise require a particular group to use effectively). A sologame allows you better to the latest their. Song and Silence has some nice classes if your playing a solo game or to use as NPC enemies. Spymaster, Vigilante etc.. bards and rogue's are often tricky to Pclass as their are alot of trade-offs that make balecing the class fair. So gearing the character twords a certain pclass helps define the campaign a bit as well.

I tend to have my players choose a pclass, if they want one, when they first create their character. That way I have plenty of time to logically fit any special requirements into the campaign.

I didn't realize that T&B had a pclass that would work well with a rogue/sorcerer... gonna have to take another look!

More ideal for a Rogue/Wizard (spell selection + Int Mod prime-spell casting stat) is a better combonation. I still cant remember the Pclass name but Its actually intended to be a Rogue/Caster class. the downside is that it practically requires round about 8th to 10th level character to finally meat the requirments. but the benefits are great too.

Thieves Challenge was the 2nd adventure series mentioned before.

My first thought is have the entire adventure set in a city. Rarely leave it. This way, there are thieves guilds, city guards, city politics, merchants and other fun stuff. Since you are looking at a "good" or "diamond in the rough" thief, have it a decadant / evil city ruled by rich less than noble types.

I am looking at maybe Mithral of Hollowfast as the city, but they may be a bit too "out there" for what I want to do, again, gotta dig them off the shelf.

Oh, thanks for the 2e adventure title, ognna have to see if I can find them at SVgames or Ebay or something :)

Even though it's a basic DnD module, B6 The Veiled Society is a pretty fun city module with lots of intrigue and adventure. I found one on EBay right here.

Veiled Society

When running a solo city adventure, a compelling urban environment is key. The right city will result in endless adventure because there are just so many interesting folks and places to visit. I hear that Freeport from Green Ronin is sweet and Monte Cook's Ptolus is supported via his module The Banewarrens as well as at his site. There has also been a ton of great Waterdeep supplements published as well.

I have the veiled society, but never thought about using it for solo. Again, time to hit the shelves.

Great zine, BTW. I just got the new Iron Rations a few days ago.

If you've played Thief: The Dark Project; or the better sequel; Thief 2: The Metal Age, then you know what to do.
If not......HOW DARE YOU RUN A SOLO ROQUE GAME WITHOUT PLAYING THIS MOST HOLY OF HOLIES?!!

*snatches character sheet, crossed off name, writes in "Garret"* there. he's now lvl 30 with a dex score of ...

Thanks, amigo! The next issue is coming along well. I put up a lil' preview at http://www.ironrations.com/. The issue will be lavender I think.

Good luck with the campaign. :)
