Some of my PCs need to be punished...What to do?

All the advice so far is very good. THe only problem is, if they kill her. They will just hide or destroy her body and be on their merry way. So, that is not really an option. I do not know much about that Anti-Human group. To me, the Sense Motive check seems like the best thing to do as of now.

Mention that there are some white cranes perched on a tree nearby. Bring it up again during the draining. If they get the hint, its nothing. If they don't, the epic level elven royal wizard/druid will NOT be pleased.

The characters don't seem very concerned with that princess's well being. If they are maybe a little, perhaps the princess could appeal to the other characters, asking for help because she finds the training unbearable.

BTW, remember that in D&D alignment is objective, which means this barbarian has clearly slipped into evil territory with this behavior. If you haven't factored that into this game already, you probably should.

Not yet, he's very close but if this is how his people act then it's not a evil as it accepted by society…

Besides until the princes shows otherwise it’s not really torture…

At least that's my opinion. :)

The best way to deal with this is to have a Paladin of almost any Order and a group walk into there camp looking for the Evlen Princess. When she cries out for help the Paladin jumps into action. He is probobly the best suited at dealing with the problem. Other characters would be a Cleric, a Fighter and a Sorcerer or Druid. :] :]

Truly, it sounds as though you have a party that wants to play Evil, and your'e catering to that: you provided them with a bone-stick-and-stone stupid hostage who is helpless and who can be tortured or killed without consequences, even from the GM. (Dropping hints about an alignment change that has already happened is not much of a threat.)

Now, if you want to run an evil-oriented campaign like this, no problem; you're on the right track. But then what's the point of talking about punishment? You've set up the world to reward and enable evil behavior. It seems unfair to say, in essence, you've suddenly decided that maybe they should be good guys after all.

1. The barbarian's intending it as punishment. If the player really had no idea it was something other than fun exercise, I missed that part of the post.

2. In what culture is forced drowning *not* torture? Just curious.

It is because of interpretations like this that I made the point of saying evil is objective, not subjective. It's perfectly acceptable in drow society, for instance, to murder your parents and siblings (in some cases, it's expected.) That does not make doing so either a good or a neutral act. It is evil.

So is the way this barbarian treats his charge.

The Eldreth Veluuthra are in the Lords of Darkness supplement.

If she dies and they go on their merry way, remember the spirits of the unjustly murdered have a habit of returning to avenge their death ...
