Some starter questions.

I wonder, does anybody think that you might be able to learn ADnD faster by playing videogames that use the ruleset?

If so which ones do people think would be best?

I wouldn't mind IM'ing you (although I haven't played ADnD I might be able to help you with other aspects)

What is your e-mail?
Thanks for your replay

My e-mail is antissblog {at} gmail {dot} com

I will be awaiting for your offers ;)
Now I'm curious.

Having started with AD&D I don't have too many fond memories of it. Granted I had some nice AD&D moments it wouldn't be my first choice these days.

Why do you guys chose AD&D instead of "easy to find" 3.5 or 4.0?
Thank you too dear avin

I think it's "easy to find" for you, but for me... I just know one other DM in Iran. and he plays AD&D 2nd Edition. So I think it's more easy to find for me!
anyway, if you know any sorce that I can find almost everything there, to learn 3.5 and 4 editions, and I will not have problems to find them, So please introduce me.
I have core book of 4 edition in PDF. I havn't adventures etc...
Thanks again

Everyone I know either started with one of the Basic Sets or started with an experienced group. I don’t know anyone who started cold with AD&D. So, I’d suggest starting with one of the old Basic Sets and then moving up to AD&D.

Don't worry, I got into D&D with 1E, then went "backwards" to D&D for a while. So you can definitely get started just fine with 1E.

Thank you. but we're playing 2E for some weeks and it's hard to begin another version without finishing this one.
Then why not get a Basic Set PDF?
well, It seens to be a good idea... What the books you recommend? I'm reading PHB, DMG and Monstrous Manual.
Thanks again

My advice is this: ignore any rules you don't like, and shape the game to fit what you want it to be.

AD&D is one of the "old school" editions, which means that it has ideas about what the game should be which are different from the ideas of more recent editions. I prefer the old school games, myself.

Changing the game to be what you want it to be is the first step in playing according to the "old school" style. The next step is to understand why the rules were written as they were. That is much harder! Sometimes you may change something, and then later realize that the original rule had a good purpose. It is a very rewarding journey.

The beauty of a good role playing game is that you can use it as a framework to create the experience you want to have. Use your imagination and have fun with it. If you get some of the rules incorrect, it doesn't really matter.
