The subterranean path begins to level and the main direction that the party has been traveling ends abruptly. A side passage leads farther into the heart of the mountain and a light source can be seen farther along its way. Star motions for everyone to listen. Once still, everyone can hear the sounds of mining tools being used. Star and Oorvid can also hear voices. They have the deep harsher sound of those belonging to Mhytres. The new path is the only choice for continuing to move forward.

As the party continues toward the sounds of the work, this path has many more dead-ended offshoots. It is obviously an active mine, but a very very deep one. The open area becomes much larger like a room with some natural columns supporting the open area. Maka and Wrenn can both smell burning oil or guano, indicating that the light sources are natural rather than magical. No longer needing their own source of light the party moves close enough to witness that the work is forced labor. The overlords are average in height but tall for Mhytres, a deep mahogany color, and very muscular, even the females. Unlike other Mhytres, the males have shaved their faces and all are bald, even the females. There are four males and four females forcing a group of about 20 Aedamans to mine for ore.
GM: NOTE: As this game went inactive for quite some time, there have been changes in some of the nomenclature. This is not especially important, as anyone working slaves is considered to be malevolent, no matter the tribe.

Star Wolfess quietly proposes to keep watching the overlords, and while doing so create a plan for further action. She will keep her hearing improved to eavesdrop both slaves and their watchers least anything they will say may be useful.

Moving quietly to each person and speaking as quietly as possible, Astrid indicates that she would like to put an end to the forced labor. Even if the slaves could not or would not help, she thought that they would not aid their captors. She can also hide herself in shadow and move around to one of the flanks to make sure all of the overlords can be seen.

Is it possible to manipulate waylines so as to cause either a zone of silence, or to cause no sound to eminate from a person who is moving? Or is the solution in this case simply to augment the person's natural ability to be sneaky?
 

Maka and Wrenn intend to move with Astrid, following at a distance that won't impede her ability to move silently, but staying close enough to help her if she gets into trouble. Both Maka and Wrenn will move as silently as possible.

GM: Maka is able to employ the talent of Camouflage which not only causes his skin to blend with the surrounding but also reduces his natural aroma and masks the sound of movement. This will only affect himself. Wren may employ the same talent. Each character of the party has his/her own talent to do something of similar effect.

Noting that Maka and Wrenn intend to follow her, before her skin blends into the darkness of the cave, Astrid quickly but vigorously shakes her head, “No” and motions for the two to go the other direction. It is too late to explain but obvious that she wants to attack from each side of the slavers. Maka and Wrenn are quick on the uptake and move to the other flank. Oorvid remains nearer Star Wolfess, but the two ease a little closer to the quarry. For the moment Star is still fully visible to the party members who know her location, because she is audibly monitoring the wariness of the very dark Mhytres who are controlling the Aedaman slaves.
