I hope
Wizard / Sorcerer: Merged, with options to play either fast and loose with or with preparation and study. These two classes have the same skill points, hit dice, saves, attack and spell list (and
should have the same class features...), no need at all for them to be separate.
Druid / Cleric: I'd love to see the system flexible to the point where one class can handle both. Mostly because it would hint that different clerics could be significantly different from each other.
Fighter / Barbarian / Ranger: Ditto cleric / druid.
Paladin and Monk I can still envision as base classes, because their more unique. The same goes for Rogue and Bard.
So:
Fighter, Priest, Mage, Rogue as the 4 basic classes.
Bard, Monk, Paladin as the oddballs... psion should be here to round 'em out. Ah, well
