Someone to watch over me...

So I found out today that my morning job has a webcam. Not such an unusual occurance in this technological world, except that my boss set up this webcam in the shop. Not so that he could watch us, but so that he could set up a live stream on the internet. Now anyone can watch me at work in the morning. It's kind of wierd. Not that I do anything I'm ashamed of at work, but now I'm paranoid that someone important is going to see me taking a break or something, and I don't want to get in trouble for that.

Also, it just seems wierd to me to be under constant surveilance.

So what's the link? ;)

it's not so much that you will be under constant surveillance - in fact, that wouldn't be as bad. it's the fact that you could be watched at any given time without your knowledge which is a bit unnerving.

What is your morning job? And did he notify you that he was going to be installing a camera and that you would be under constant surveillance? Was it in the original contract?

[sblock] And what is the link :) [/sblock]

Maybe Xath doesn't want everyone on ENworld watching over here all day long. :)

Of course, this does beg the question as to *why* the manager decided this was a good idea. Was he just bored?

It doesn't seem that unusual anymore. I work for an IT company and some of our customers build hydraulics equipment for their customers. A number of them have been adding webcams so that their customers can check in on how their projects are coming.

Not that I wouldn't be weirded out by it myself :)

Yeah...my vote goes for "that's weird." :S Luckily, your job is legal, so at least the important ppl who might be watching won't come and arrest you...
