Son of Conan Movie

First Post
I heard the following rumors from a friend who lives next door to
an individual that works for the film company that owns the Conan rights:

The current idea is to have Arnold reprise his role as Conan with Vin Disel playing his son, and with Vin as the inheritor of the franchise.

The wochowski (sp),(matrix brothers, my spelling is off today),
are apparently back on board to do the projects or at least intrested in it again.

The same film company also owns the rights to Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, and they are trying to figure out which, or how to make a movie of one or all of the books,(good luck WOT is to massive for moviedom).

The intresting corollary to this apparantly the idea has been floated to let ,(or rather try to get), Robert Jordan to write the story for the Conan film.

So the first 15 minutes of the movie will be crazy all out action, then there will be a hour and a half of people talking to each other about stuff and wondering around looking for other people to talk about stuff with, followed by the big "Extreme Bungie Jumping Sword Fighting" scene and then half a hour of people talking about what they were doing during the fight scene, and to end it all Conan will kill the Devil and his son will learn how to turbo charge horses and they will drag race them to freedom. The devil will be played by Keanu Reeves and all the fight scenes will cut to slow motion and frame stop at odd times. There will be a cast of 52 main characters but most of them will just talk about what they are doing with other people and worry alot.

Or it could be pretty good.........

seems like it's time to whip out the old banner

Conan sniffs...

Conan folds his arms under his breas...I mean pecs...

Conan tugs at his braided hair...

Conan gives a wry smile...

ARRRHGGGGGGGG!

NO CONAN WITHOUT JOHN MILIUS!

A WoT movie?

Are they insane?

The series isn't even finished yet (nor is it likely to be any time soon) and they are already talking about a movie? Heh, if they thought LotR was a tough bird to convert to film, the WoT series is going to be a living, breathing nightmare from the depths of Hell.

I'm thinking miniseries, maybe.

There would be nothing mini about it, it would have to be huge. And it would invole a lot of people sitting around and talking (of course I'm 2/3 the way through Crossroads of Twilight and growing bitter). If it took 3 long movies to do LOTR then it would take at least 10 movies to get as far as WOT has been written and he isn't done yet. Maybe they could just do the first book as a stand alone movie.

I only read the first few WoT books, but from what I read about the series lately, RJ has gotten WAY off base. I read that one book is nothing but what happened in the last book, but from other characters perspective, I also heard his latest NOTHING happens to advance the plot. Those would make GREAT movies.

The first 5 books were wonderful, the 6th book was very good, the 7th book was good , the 8th book was poor, the 9th book was ok and the 10th book was crap on a stick. I actually liked all the books up till the present one, not all of them were that great but they were entertaining, the last one, well there is a rant thread already going http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38434

The first book would be a good movie as a stand alone, a series of movies based on all the books would be as long as the complete Bond collection, and they wouldn't have any appeal on their own. I don't ever see anybody trying to make Feature length movies out of this series, maybe the first book but not the series.

I have never read any of Jordan's Conan books, but even if they are good I don't see him being very good as a script writer.

Great, just what we need -- an X-Games, MTV-ized Conan movie. I'm picturing slo-mo's of Diesel flying through the air, with a rap-metal soundtrack blaring in the background, as he beheads his enemy with a broadsword.

Please, please don't let this happen. Vin Diesel is the worst action hero actor to hit the pike in ages. I can't stomach his awful, one-dimensional roles. He's utterly incapable of playing anything besides a smug, holier-than-thou "badass."
