Songs & Movies that made you cry.

The number one movie that makes me cry is "Savannah Smiles".
If you haven't seen it, check it out. It can be pretty funny, too.

"Grave of the Fireflies" is another one.

I always cry when I listen to Les Miserables and Eponine sings "A Little Fall of Rain."

I'm a big crybaby at movies, but I've managed to get it down to just 1 tissue crying, instead of hand me the box crying.

There were times when I was still singing in choirs where I would want to cry just from how good it felt. (Those of you who have been there will understand.)

Oh yea, Schindler's List was pretty gut-wrenching.

Or, It's a Beautiful Life. That was a pretty sad movie, too. In it's own way.

Do you mean Life is Beautiful? If you do, then yeah, that one really broke me when I saw it. The lengths that guy went to not to only save his son's life, but to protect his psyche, were astounding. I saw that movie in the theater with my girlfriend, who had already seen it once before. I was kind of embarrassed to have tears streaming down my face, but there's no way I could help it. Especially not during the son's "grown-up" voiceover at the end. I still haven't seen Schindler's List, I just don't want something that heavy.

As for songs, which haven't really been discussed as much as movies, my choice is "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds. I haven't actually cried from the song (and I can't think of a song that has made me cry), but that's the most beautiful love song I've ever heard, hands down.

In "Mi Familia/My Family", when the brother gets shot and the police are whooping it up and yelling "We got 'em!"

First time I saw that I bawled, and it never fails to make me misty. :(

Well, I have to say that I cry at alot of movies, and songs.

Classic tearjerker movies: Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffiny's. I also cryed at Steal Magnolias, Untamed Heart, Braveheart, and Dead poets society.

Music: Stairway to heaven(personal reasons), and Disarm by the smashing pumpkins, Pachebel's Cannon in D(sp?)

Music in general makes me cry, sometimes good sometimes bad...

Most of my "tearjerkers" come from LotR.

The Two Towers. I teared up several times through that movie, every time I've seen it. The speech of "No parent should have to bury their child" had me bawling. I cried when the mother sent her children away as the villiage was set to be burned.

Wormtongue looking over the gathered army of Saruman; the look on his face says to me: "What have I done. I wanted power, for my desires to come true, but not at this cost... not at this cost...". The charge of the Riders of Rohan down the hill is an awe-inspiring moment that brings a tear to the eye. Likewise, the charge of Theoden and Aragorn, with the Horn sounding in the background, is a similarly powerful story.

"There won't be a Shire, Pippin!" I believe that line got the biggest response out of me. The complete loss of innocence, the realization of what true evil is, and knowing the oppression of inevitibility. It wracks me with sobs just thinking about it right now.

The trailers from Return of the King really get me worked up, too. Aragorn's speech is powerful and moving. The scene of the forging of "the sword" gives me goosebumps, as does the shot of Gandalf's staff flaring to life in his charge. And, the most powerful to me from the trailer, is Merry's "We will see the Shire again!" That is as powerful as his other quote from above; the diametric opposite. It speaks of rising from the ashes of war, of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Most of all, it speaks of hope.

I'll make this a separate post, since the other was exclusively LotR. Most other movies don't really get me, but songs are another story.

"Don't Take the Girl" by Tim McGraw gets me occasionally. Colin Raye's "Love, Me" is a guaranteed waterworks. Garth Brooks' "Belleau Wood," "The Dance," and others are very moving. Toby Keith's "Santa, I'm Right Here" and Shania Twain's "God Bless the Child" are the two Christmas songs that tear me apart.

I've cried at a few other movies, including Matrix: Revolutions, X2, LotR:FotR, and will probably (read: definitely) add to that RotK. A Beautiful Mind, the story of John Nash, gave me a few sobs and tears (just saw it for the first time about 10 minutes ago, literally). And, depending on which episodes, Star Trek, any series thereof, can have that effect on me, especially when Earth was destroyed in the most recent time-travel episode on Enterprise. The new Battlestar Galactica had me crying at a few points as well.

Yikes, didn't realize it was that much... Anyone got a mop?
