sorcerer tweak.. comments/balance/etc?

For an alt.sorcerer, your changes are fairly minor and conservative. (Mine, for instance, drops Knowledge (arcana) and Spellcraft, while giving all the Charisma skills except Perform.) You shouldn't face any game balance issues. Your sorcerer might still be a bit weak, but it's good enough to be a better balance with the other character classes.

thanks for the hanson-esque bump, Nightfall.

Which book is the Blessed of Mesos in? and can you give me a short description (flavorwise) of what they are like?
Understand that this is a campaign setting pr-class. But what it is basically a sorcerer with a particular bloodline which we called in the Scarred Lands a Scion Feat. Now Scion feats themselves aren't always like uber good but they are pretty flavorful. They grant a sorcerer a particular spell list that they use for spells known. These spells are cast a +1 caster level. A Blessed of Mesos taps into the primal power of the Sire of Sorcery, the Titan Mesos. This allows him to cast metamagic feats WITHOUT raising their levels or casting times by making Concentration check and drawing from a special point pool to determine how many points you use to cast such spells. (These points used are determined by the number of spell levels the spellcaster wishes to increase it, say like maximizing and empowering a fireball, cost you 5 points from this total) (Yes you still need material components) At greater levels he gains an Arcane Devourer, which is a creature of Mesos that feeds on magical energy. Also you gain bonus metamagic feats, along with the ability to substantially increase your known spells per day at ANY level but only after you've add your Scion feat required spells. You increase them by your Cha score. I think you see the power coming now. Finally the ability to unravel spells is granted. This means you and the opponent you are trying to counterspell make two rolls. (You don't need any spells prepared for this). The first is a Spellcraft roll (yours) which sets up the DC against which your opponent must make a Concentration check. He/she fails, the spell fails. But at the grand level, you can TAKE the spell energy and add that to your spells per day, but you cannot exceed your existing spells per day.

That help?

Very much so, Nightfall. Thanks.

I was very interested in SL when it first arrived on the scene, *way* back when in the 3.0 days. But it didn't catch on with my gaming group with the same kind of intensity. So I shelved those first couple of Sw&Sor books I had purchased. But this is very interesting. I'll have to go and dig through some of the newer books.

Glad I could help. You can find Blessed of Mesos (along with the Scion feats), in Player's Guide to Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers.

But there's nothing wrong with Blessed of Mesos either! ;) If you have the right DM. ;)

I have a high opinion of Scarred Lands stuff in general, as I think you know, but the Blessed of Mesos seems over the top to me.
