Sorceress spell selection

You're an incantrix! What're you doing focusing on buffing?

Uhm... buffing? Where did you get that from?

She'll focus in enchantments and to a degree calling/summoning. Some utility spells to round off her repertoire and a few directly offensive spells, like Fireball, for the very same reason.

x4 empowered fireball is far better than any 7th level spell. X6 empowered fireball is far stronger than any 9th level spell. x7 empowered Eagle's Splendor will make your spells nearly impossible to save against, not to mention giving you a heckuva lot of extra spells. Forget Twin Spell! A x2 empowered spell will do the same, for one less cost (thanks to improved metamagic).

You noticed the 3.5 tag, didn't you?

Metamagic feats no longer stack with themselves, Eagle's Splendor gives a flat +4 for 1 min./level now, so empowering it has no use whatsoever! ;)

Also, even in 3.0 Eagle's Splendor doesn't grant any extra spells!

I think its nothing new, Nail. In fact, I post after failing to read everything thoroughly just as often now as before :-)

If you're still planning, I can suggest another utterly brilliant 2nd level spell which is often overlooked.

Pyrotechnics.

If there are enemy campfires you can zap it from long range, if not you can always zap your own torch in order to make it happen. You have a choice of targetting foes Fort saves with the choking cloud or Will saves with the fireworks - and have you looked at the area of effect for fireworks? 120ft radius! My 4th level sorcerer disrupted the charge of an entire barbarian warband with this spell and turned the tide of the battle like no other spell of equivalent level could have. The choking cloud is also good for times when you really want to obscure something.

Pyrotechnics is underrated, and one of the few multi-purpose spells still out there. You could swap it for invisibility, and take improved invisibility instead of... something else. That's the problem with sorcerers isn't it - so many good spells, so few slots!

Cheers

Hehe, yes absolutely! Just too few spell slots and no feats for extra spell! :)

I chose Invisibility over Improved Invisibility, because of the longer duration, tho. And 2nd level is really bad to loose something from...

For sheer power, I would have waited for the Improved one.

But I really prefer the non-combat Invisiblity spell, to use it as a support for sneaking and infiltration, or a mean to escape. I think it is very lame to just fight every combat with Improved Invisiblity. It's powerful but little imaginative. :)
