I was running Firefox from my USB key today and it worked like a charm!
Excellent! Glad to hear it. Your internet traffic can still be monitored real time, but opening local files, like the SRD downloaded to the USB key, should not cause any blips on anyone's radar.

Except if the browser automatically checks for updates when its opened, of course.

Sage, RavenProject, and IronWolf -- thanks! :)

Well, you could have asked me for ftp access to your stuff on my host. Wouldn't be a problem.

Oh, right: Raven, can I get ftp access to the part of your site where my srd is uploaded?;)

and b.t.w. RSS is probably best for sites that get updated frequently, so Dimwhit If you're still willing to help with an e-mail list?

SRD Error!

Hi

I've just been informed of an error, and frankly, I'm not sure how to fix it, so this is for you tech-savvy folk.

Basically it's with the DM-screen. First: the numbers which are supposed to be superscript aren't displayed that way in IE and Netscape navigator. Ad I use Firefox I didn't see this.
The html code for a superscript "7" is written like: 7
The reason for this is to make the rows with notes have the same height as rows without.
My best suggestion is for people to change to firefox, but I'm open for other suggestions.

The second problem is with the "invisible boxes" apparently, in both IE and Netscape they don't display if the box's ID is more then one word for example: "ability-drained" (2 words).
1 word works fine: "sickened"
My best solution is to rewrite the names of the two-worders to something like: "abilityDrained" but again I'm open to suggestions.
And just to rub it in: it all works fine in firefox ;)

Just because not everybody knows the incredible power of Google-fu, note that the entire online version of S/S's SRD is SEARCHABLE through Google.

Type this:

And Google will obligingly return all pages in the S/S SRD with your search phrase (note that you don't need the angle brackets). Fast and simple. Since all the browsers I use have Google integration and auto-complete, I just start typing "site" and immediately get the URL, then just right-arrow once to the end of the last phrase I typed in, delete it and enter my new phrase. I get ambitious I'll put together something that works even simpler, like a Konfabulator widget that does it for me.

But don't let Google's power pass you by. The S/S SRD is completely searchable. For free!

Thanks for bringing this to the public :)

Actually, I've allready made a search feature for the next update. It's not very good and only searches the exact phrase of the query, but it should get you to the right page if your at a loss as to where something is. Oh, and of course, like everything else on the site, it works offline, unlike google ;)

Sweet! I was going to ask you about that. I love the spell search. Being able to search the whole SRD will be great! i do recommend keeping the spell search as a separate option, if you weren't already planning on it. Or have one search page, but be able to limit it to just spells (or Monsters, or whatever). :)
