Special Conversion Thread: Aboleths

Added to Homebrews.

I started 'em at 21 HD so they'd begin with an epic feat.

I haven't messed with psionics at all yet (including save DCs). Build off the noble's list?

Caster level/manifester level 20th?

Looking over the psionics, it looks like they don't really gain any over the noble...a few just move to "at will". Do we want to raise the caster level higher than 20th, or maybe add a few more abilities?

Let's think about adding a few more abilities. CL/ML higher than 20 is pretty unusual for non-uniques, right? Not that I'm absolutely opposed, but we should think carefully before going higher.

We set the Noble to 20th, correct? It would only seem logical that the one who rules them to be more powerful.

Bykov.

Most non-unique monsters do indeed cap out at 20th level for spell-like/psi-like abilities (see phoenix, solar, etc.).

However, epic monsters can exceed the threshold, but I'm not sure if these will be quite epic.

A better solution may be to follow the elder brain (and solar) route and make them full sorcerers/psions in addition to the SLAs/PLAs.

Ok, so shall we just keep the noble's SLA list? And how many innate casting/manifesting levels do we want to add? 20ish again?

It would depend on our desired CR. If we give 'em 20 levels, this thing is going to be around solar in power (CR 22). If we'd prefer more in the CR 16 ballpark, like a planetar, then 17 levels is about right.
