D&D (2024) Speculation on the next UA in April

The fighter is easy... either battlemaster is base class and champion is subclass or vice versa... and then weapon abilities on top.
Champion is the most popular Subclass, so we'll probably see a version of that. Really interested to.see what they do with Fighting Style Feats and Weapon properties.

So far, we have:

- Rogue: Thief (iconic and in the SRD, but in fact Assasin and Swashbuckler are more popular, so I reckon they will be in the PHB, and Arcane Trickster to boot)

- Bard: Lore (most popular and SRD)

- Ranger: Hunter (most popular and in SRD)

- Cleric: Life (most popular and in SRD)

- Paladin: Devotion (in SRD, not the most popular, however, that's Vengence)

- Druid: Moon (not in the SRD, but it is the most popular)

So, I'm guessing for the remainder:

- Fighter: Champion (most popular and in the SRD)

- Monk: Open Hand or equivalent

- Barbarian: Berserker if they go for SRD, Totem, if they go for popularity

- Sorcerer: Draconic, single most popular Subclass in the whole game

- Warlock: Fiendish if they with SRD, Hexblade if they go by popularity

-Wizard: Bladesinger and War Mage arr the most popular options, but Evoker is in the SRD. Might do something weird here, if the Mage Group features take some Wizard stuff

I'm eager for Monsters (I'd like a complete overhaul on the stat-block design, but that might just be me).
Interesting. What would you like to see in a "complete overhaul of the stat-block design?" I don't think that is happening given what they have said and what they have already previewed.

However, I am more interested in what you would like to see in a revised stat-block. In general I like the current design, but I could see a few tweaks for ease of use and efficiency. But I don't personally see a complete redesign being needed. I would love to know what you think is need though!

One has to remember that the most popular subclass expect one was the one that is in the srd and is free on DNDB.

Depending on how well or poorly the weapons system is accepted, the fighter might be one of the few classes where we might playtest more than one subclass. This again foretells seeing the Warrior playtest multiple times.

Maybe taking a list of core manoeuvres that take an action like shove, disarm, hustle, etc, and maybe an intimidation action, and give the core fighter the ability to perform them as a bonus action - maybe a limited resource using similar rules to channel divinity or wild shape.

How they're handling specialist wizards is probably how they'll have to go. We've already seen Black Flag turn specializations into a feat (which is a huge improvement, as it allows players a lot more choice as well as reducing largely repetitive page count). I wouldn't bet against WotC doing something similar.

Or a Specialization Wizard similar to the Circle of the Land Druid so you don't need 7 different subclasses.
