Copies of Spelljammer are starting to show up. Mike Long of Tribality is in receipt of the books and has tweeted some photos!
I mean, isn't it obvious? His brother was a Level 20 Barbarian. It runs in the family! The Astral Elf Aristocrat statblock is only creature rating 8, but it has Intelligence score 21.
It is nonepic, but breaks the ability score 20 ceiling.
Of course, this is an NPC statblock and doesnt follow player character creation rules.
Even so, it might signal ways to break the 20 ceiling.
WoTC suddenly wakes up in a cold sweat, after remembering about the 5E Thri-Kreen's carapace, as it quickly grabs the phone for the next Errata batch. No, they can’t. None of the other natural armor races work that way, so kreen won’t either.
I mean, it's more of a lore angle for me and nothing to do with anything related to mechanics in 5E.Sounds like quite the stretch. Just give everyone darkvision and be done with it. It’s not like light is a relevant angle to fiddle with in 5E.
So, we don't know much more than this, probably they will start ramping up info.after Spelljammer is out:I missed this. Can you point me to this info?
It doesn't raise the base AC, it offers an option to use (see what it says about heavier armors). Monk and Barbarian Armor abilities do not stack on the 13, they are alter atives that a character can use instead.A Thri-Kreen monk can technically get 24 AC as a Monk: 13(starting out)+Dex modifier+5 along with Wis Modifier+5

But it doesnt say "natural armor".Doubtful, that's not how it works for Lizardfolk or other natural armor Rave options. It's 13 + Dex OR 10 + Dex + Wis
The Monk feature states "Beginning at 1st level, while you are wearing no armor and not wielding a shield, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Wisdom modifier." So, it remains that toy can use the Carapace or the Monk armor ability. It does not synergize. But it doesnt say "natural armor".
It says, your "base AC" is.
That seems to override a "base AC 10".
So does the tortle and yet it's been specifically called out as not working that way with monks or barbarians. Then there's the specific rules for monks and barbarians. So what happens when two specific rules contradict each other again? Ah, the joys of "natural language."But it doesnt say "natural armor".

Nope. In order to use the two-weapon fighting you need to attack with two LIGHT weapons. Having extra arms doesn't change that. Even the Duel Wielder feat states "you can use two-weapon fighting even when the one-handed melee weapons you are wielding are not light".So, it looks like a heavy weapon (two hands) action plus a light weapon (secondary hand) bonus action.
Heh. Well the pictures say otherwise?Nope. In order to use the two-weapon fighting you need to attack with two LIGHT weapons. Having extra arms doesn't change that. So, RAW, you can't do that. What you can do is is fight with two light weapons and a shield, or cast a spell with S and M components with a shield and light weapon equipped (good for EKs).
As per RAW, your secondary hands cannot: help hold a two-handed weapon, load ammo, or perform S and M spell components.
