SPELLS & SPELLCRAFT: The Greatest d20 Rulebook? YES!!!

I am eagerly awaiting mine from Wil direct---you autographing it?:D And as always IMHO, FFG has the best overall $/HC books on the market, so I can not wait for my copy. If KK liked it MAN OH MAN I can't wait......(and neither can Carl) .

Think this book may be a nice addition to players and GM's library!!!
Can't wait for mine!!!

I just picked it up and really like it, from a first quick. I don't have time to go into all the details, but bottom-line, I think it is a great sourcebook for people wanting to flesh out their magic systems/flavor of magic. The entire section on New Types of Magic is really interesting and thought-provoking. This book can help add more layers of flavor and distinction to campaigns, IMHO.

I am waiting on Talon Comics too, I think Derek is worn out by all the big releases this month (I hope he hasn't seen my Star Trek RPG thread, it might push him over the edge before he gets to the post office).

Can someone tell me more about Sorcerers and "Tainted Bloodlines"?

Suldulin--
As far as spells go, Druids get 6 new first level spells, 4 2nd, 4 3rd, 4 th, 4 5th, and one each 6th and 8th.

Reapersaurus, you'll need to start petitioning Mongoose or somebody to get cracking on the Complete Paladin:)

Sure. In addition to the classic sorcerer, there are 4 types of bloodlines that one could choose: Dragon, Fey, Giant, and Fiend (which is really 'outsider'). Each has its own bonuses and penalties. (The classic sorcerer is assumed to be someone whose blood is thick enough to cast magic but thin enough not to get the other consequences.)

For example, a sorcerer with dragon's blood gains bonuses to Bluff and Intimidate due to his heritage, but tends to spook animals (giving him minuses on the three animal-related skills.) One with fey blood gets an additional first-level Enchantment or Illusion spell that they can cast once per day, but take a hefty penalty to saves against spells cast on them by their relatives, and they don't do to well with necromancy spells either.

Between these and the sorcerous feats, I think that FFG did an excellent job in making the sorcerer feel different from the wizard, which can only be good.

Hong "Spells and Spycraft, anyone?" Ooi

One way or the other the group's getting freaked out. Either the fantasy group is getting besieged by guys with .45's, or the Spy group is having lightning bolts lobbed at them.:D

So, anyone else have some cool scoops like other varients or info on places of magic?

I went to my FLGS Friday evening fully inteding to buy S&S along with D&Dg, and walked out without S&S. I was very disappointed with the lack of spells - only a quarter of the book is actual spells (and that quarter is in large type and is filled with (admittedly good-looking) illustrations). The rest is stuff I just won't use - I don't need yet another book with alternate magic systems, and the present systems are more than adequate to my tastes!

Hopefully the spells will end up in Green Ronin's Pocket Grimoire so I don't have to pay for the stuff I don't want. At the very least, I'll keep an eye on eBay for a copy cheaper than cover price.

Wow. I liked it because it wasn't just another laundry list of new spells.

Different tastes I guess.

I agree. There are already way too many spells as it is. And none of them are overly creative. Many are different versions of the same old spells. It gets old real fast. I like ways to make magic mysterious again. Efveryone is so comfortible with the current system, that it doesn'r inspire the right level of fear and awe. Sure, poeople role play that their character is awed, but for the Players its the same old same old. I want to awe the players, not just the characters.
