Re: Episode 3

* Blüdhaven reference was nice, so was Opal City (home of the first Starman, Theodore "Ted" Henry Knght, and the seventh Starman, Jack Knight, and the villains known as The Shade and The Mist). Blüdhaven is where Nightwing (the first Robin) patrols, by the way.

A DC Comics fan! Have you heard about this:

I agree, this episode was definitely better than last week's. The creators need stronger individual plots, because so far the meta-plots (Harley as the big bad guy, and the thing between Huntress and the cop) aren't terribly interesting.

I am SO looking forward to this series (opens here in Brazil on November 6th).

The canon DC lore defined (in the Invasion maxi-series) that all Earth natives have the potential to become meta-humans. The Dominators (alien race) tested 200 humans, and no less than 10 of them developed superpowers under the right circumstances. So DC doesn't have "mutants" per se, and no "half-metahumans". By the way, if Huntress is "half-metahuman", who is the meta parent, Batman or Catwoman (neither of which had superpowers...)

But hey, still better than DK2...

Batman is still completely human in this universe, making Catwoman the metahuman. In the second Batman movie, Catwoman seemed to have 9 lives (we never actually saw her die and come back to life, but she did things like taking bullets at point blank range).

I didn't notice any cat growls this time, which makes the cat's eye thing less cheesy.

Yeah. The eye is pretty inconsequential, and could even be considered cool. The growls were just rough, though.

Anyone have some insider info on how they intend to explain Catwoman being a meta-human?

Guys, I gave this one a second, and a third, chance. I'm ending the pain now. This show is simply horrible. The dialogue is just too terrible for words, and the lead actress couldn't have made it even on the original Batman show. I'm not being over critical here, or exagerating. I wanted to like this show, I am a fan of comic books, I am completely open to any direction or intepretation the writers want to do for this show. However, when the script is that horrible, as is the acting, I just can't support it anymore.

I'd rather watch The Bachelor than this!

Well the new Twighlight Zone is also on during this timeslot, but I'm not sure it is any better. And Who's moronic Idea was to cast Forrest Whittaker as the narator.

I had not heard this! Thanks, Chun-tzu!

(though I'm more of a Marvel fan than a DC fan, actually)

Yes, in the BoP tv series universe, Catwoman is (er, was) the Metahuman: "Barbara takes under her wing the secret daughter of Catwoman and Batman, young Helena Kyle. Helena has inherited Batman's strong sense of justice, along with Catwoman's meta-human abilities. Although she longs for a normal life, she quickly grows into the fierce and beautiful "Huntress" (Ashley Scott, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence)." (from the WB website)

I caught the opening and duplicated man shows.
So my Wednesday nite viewing
Enterprise
West Wing if repeat
flip coin choose between babes in costumes or the zone.

Birds is the Wonder Woman of the nots.

But please some one should show the spx guys a cloak does not act that way all the time. Especially when long shots of roof tops. Screams computer effect.

Hope writing improves and the actors are banking their checks.

Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are confirming what has been rumored for weeks: the WB's BIRDS OF PREY tv series will not be renewed past it's original 13 episodes. While the superheroine show debuted to big numbers, the audience had steadily fallen, and the production costs did not justify the mediocre ratings. (The generally stinging reviews and nickname "Turds of Prey" probably didn't help matters.) The show is currently shooting its 10th episode, but may not shoot the final 3.

I can't say I'm too disappointed. The show has shown some improvement, but not a lot. I thought that episode with the baby was dreadful, but the one with Dinah's mom was not bad (but the special effects for the Canary Cry blew).

Personally, it should stay on for a full season, rearrange the program schedule so that Smallville and Birds of Prey air back-to-back.

I really don't want it to go. :(
