Spring Break Entertainment

Boingy! Boingy!
Well, it's the first day of Spring Break here. Since I'm unemployed (again), I get to spend the week with my kids. I introduced them to the original Dick Van Dyke Show. We watched "It May Look Like a Walnut" on Hulu. Classic episode of a classic show.

We also watched most of a MST3K episode (Monster A-Go-Go). During the short before the film, we were laughing so hard it triggered my daughter's asthma.

Good times.

How about you?

GaryCon II is in Lake Geneva, WI, later this week.

You could go to the listings on IMDb for free movies (not all of the links are good, few of the movies are real gems) and check some of them out.

Thanks, Mark! (Great name, BTW.) I'll have to check that out.

Nothing too entertaining today. We watched Dodgeball again. It's still funny. We also cleaned the house: did the dishes, warshed* some laundry, swept the hard wood, vacuumed the carpet, dusted dusty places.

I tried to get some writing done, but largely failed (except for this blog rant).

I did get the Spes Magna Games fan page up and running and took steps to get some advertising, so I guess it wasn't a complete wash.

So, tomorrow, we'll check the Browse Videos link, and I will get some writing done. I've got a newsletter and a PDF that need to be done by Friday evening.

* "Warshed" is Texan for "washed". It's not a shed for wars. :)

My kids are homeschooled, so they aren't really on break.

But I really miss watching Mystery Science Theater with my kids. Especially the ones with Joel. The ones with Mike were okay, but I especially liked the earlier ones.

It was one of the funniest shows on TV, at anytime, evuh.

There was one send-up with a film which was obviously a cheap knock-off of Planet of the Apes. It was one of the ones done by Joel.

I'd give almost anything to know what that episode was called, and to see it again. I laughed til I almost split open and puked out my intestines.

No kidding, I thought I was gonna die or something.

Before we had children, the wife and I would weekly get together with a friend to watch MST3K. She regularly had to pause the show, dial 9-1-, and leave her fingering hovering over the last digit just in case we didn't recover.

Ah, good times.

Day 3 of Spring Break. Nothing terribly exciting happened today.

I did some Spes Magna Games maintenance and finished the Quid Novi? subscriber PDF due out this weekend. I still have to finish Issue VII of Quid Novi? so that it's ready to be emailed on time.

I have a follow-up interview tomorrow for a tutoring job. I've almost 100% landed the position, which is for a 6-week contract. That'll get us Chances through mid-May. If I knock the ball out of the park, I can probably pick up a few clients for the summer as well.

What a week!

Today's the last day of Spring Break. My daughter's staying with a friend. Yesterday, Christopher and I watched another MST3K. Today, I write about zombie emus. Maybe after that the boy and I can hit the $ theater.

I got my first RPG product out for sale. I'm busy working on my newsletter. I've done housework. I got the tutoring job starting Monday for 6 weeks. I scored a monthly column in a gaming e-zine. And, despite all of this activity, I still look good. Awesome, huh?

I shall now tent my fingers and whisper, "Excellent." Tomorrow it's back to normal, plus I've got lesson plans to work on.

Wha...peanut butter, my chocolate... two forums merged...

the world topsy turvy....

I would have participated in your spring break thread but for some reason did not notice it. Perhaps I was too busy in Facebook's Tiny Adventures or more likely everyone was hiding from me so I could not game during my one week off between quarters at college.

You dirty rats you! [shakes fist in mock anger]
