SPYCRAFT: Blood Money (The African Dream)

Kim time his approach with the defeat of Jeff Neilan's last snooker opponent. He turns on his legendary charm and gets the target to accept a game at 10$ the ball. Once the game is underway, he starts subtly to bring Jeff to talk about Balladur. But somethings goes horribly wrong. Balladur totally misinterpret Kim's intent and becomes frightened. He starts accusing you with barely controlled anger.

-You can't be serious! It has been buried! I let it die! You should be happy, what more do you need? I've had enough of this. You're having me followed, aren't you? I'm out of here!

He starts walking rapidly toward the exit

OOC:
Sense motive results Ro 15 + 7 = 22
He is moody and looks nervous. Has a pint of beer at his table and is drinking heavily.

Disposition check Ro 14 + 4 = 18. He stays neutral.

Note that given Kim's description of his action (starting with innuendo), I was using the mechanics of p.271 ''The Great Seduction'' in order to turn over an NPC or at least get him to cooperate.

Innuendo Ro. 1 CRITICAL ERROR! I spend an action die. The subject misinterpret completely the message. In this case he believes he's being threatened.

Following check can't immediately be resolved given the subject's reaction.

Kim stops... for a moment then tries to follow...

"You got it all wrong man..." he follows Jeff glancing to Kareem and Alexander, "I am just curious is all..." he follows speaking to Jeff... "you can't run forever... Mr. Neilan..."

Kim tries to to get him to stop but if he goes... all out he won't follow...

OOC: Icky that sucked... well if he can Kim will follow and try and use Intimidate +9 with an action die roll (get 2d4 unless I roll 15 or above) to get him to calm down... time to take off the kid gloves...

Kareem sighs. 'It's obvious something went wrong,' he thinks. He pushes away from the table wearily and walks out after the man. Turning to Kim as he leaves, he points to his body with his thumbs and nods his head in the direction of Neilan.

[On the bright side, that's one less action dice for a GC critical hit]

Watchers turn

OOC:

Spot check

Kareem
Ro. 18 + 5 = 23
Ghostfox
Ro. 13 + 3 = 16
Roman
Ro. 14 + 4 = 18

You all gain the following info.

You notice a man taking intense interest in Kim's discussion with the CIA agent. He's one of the few African in the club. He starts dialing on a cell phone as soon as Kim and Jeff start playing while watching discreetly.

Ghostfox, while checking out for a possible exit you learn that Woman's toilet windows isn't sealed and lead outside. Furthermore, from what you saw outside it seems the kitchen at least also has an exit.

Steel Ronin (outside, right?);

You are not at all happy with the fact that a car with tinted windows previously parked farther down the street suddenly came double park itself in front of the club.

As a sidenote, I started with 9 action dice. I spent one on this activation and I gained 1 because I awarded an action die to Luddite (back in gearing up phase). That puts me back at 9 action dice. I'll try to remember to write how many action dice I have left each time I use one.

Roman sneaks his digital camera out and snaps a discreat picture of the man taking intense interest in Kim's discussion with the CIA agent. Then quickly returns the camera to its pocket.

After watching the unexpected blow-up between Tokiwong and Neilan, Roman places his beer on a nearby empty table still cluttered with the last guests' dishes and casually moves towards the exit as smoothy and unexceptionally as possible, leaving behind no sign that he was ever there.

[OCC: Time to use all those feats and skills to tail/shadow Neilan: using Bluff 2, Hide 7 (19-20), Listen 5, Move Silently 7 (19-20), Spot 4, Surveillance 6, Traceless, and Stealthy]

Oi! Alexander thinks to himself. Something out of the ordinary must have spooked Neilan. Tokiwong is too slick to have slipped up. Time to do some tailing.

... and asks for a whiskey and ginger ale, pays for the drink and gives the bartender a decent tip.

Ghostfox cups the drink in her hand and surveys the scene. The commotion with Neilan and the African dialing the cellphone trips alarm bells in the back of her mind. She smirks at her drink and struggles to contain her excitement and disappointment. Ghostfox punches Steel Ronin's number on her cellphone and presses the receiver against her ear.
"Heads up, Ken. Our company friend got spooked. Smells like trouble. *BIG* time."

[ OOC: I am going to wait and see what happens. No sense tipping my hand. Keeping one eye on the kitchen door and another eye on her team. If the team is attacked or if men with guns go through the door, then she'll do something. Let me know.

The club is very crowded, especially near the main entrance. It is also very large, 120 feet from the snooker tables to the exit. Ghostfox watches as everyone else pushes their way through the salon. But Jeff's eyes meet hers and she realize she's just been spotted. The cell phone guy is still oblivious to anyone but Jeff and Kim. The team still has a few edge over the opposition, whoever they might be, but the situation is starting to tense up.

OOC:
Kim, I rule that you can't stop Jeff from leaving just with an intimidate check (Maybe if you had discreetly pressed a pistol against him, James Bond Style, but that would have been another story)

Given what you wrote, I'm gonna assume you let him leave and let Roman and Amir follow tail him as you fall in behind them.

I rolled a new spot check for you to see if you spotted the Cell Phone Guy (CPG).

Kim (Spot)
Ro. 8 + 7 = 15

CPG (hide)
Ro. 1 = Error.

If someone inside the club spends an action die to activate the fumble, CPG is gonna trip. You might be able to take advantage of this.

Either way, Kim now has spotted CPG.

Roman and Kareem are tailing Jeff and looking out for CPG. (Note that in a crowd you have the option of using bluff instead of Hide to tail someone).

Kareem (Bluff)
Ro. 16 + 5 = 21

Roman (Hide)
Ro. 17 + 7 = 24

CPG (spot)
Ro 16 + 3 = 19
His hide as already been establish at 1

Jeff (spot)
Ro. 20, auto success (can you believe the luck of this guy!). I spend an action dice (Now have 8) and he spots everyone, including Ghostfox who didn't even move.

*random rolls*

Kareem is close to Jeff, Roman is near CPG. Kim is roughly 30 feet behind Roman and CPG.

Ghost Fox is still at the bar, 60 feet from the exit, not missing anything of all those movements.

Kareem, since you're closest to Jeff you also got a sense motive check against Jeff:
ro. 19 + 5 = 24

You realize that not only has Jeff spotted you, he is about to start fleeing in earnest. He's trying to look calm but is only looking for an opening.

Kim glances to the Cell Phone Guy and curses his luck... he watches Jeff go and then tries to move towards the cell-phone guy... he ominously reaches into his jacket as he gets closer to the cell-phone guy...

OOC: Spending an action die to make the CPG get a ciritcal error, I have 2 left now.

Steel Ronin sees 4 soldiers in uniform suddenly exiting from the black sedan that had double parked in front of the African Dream club barely 30 seconds ago. They are totting Shiny new AK-74s and start moving toward the entrance.

The cell phone guy tries to push his way past a massive poster boy for Aryan supremacy who was trying to dance. Blondie doesn't appreciate and pushes back the would be spook so hard that he falls on his back and drops his cell phone. His vest opens and Kim detects a service pistol worn at the shoulder.

OOC:

Kim (Spot then Bluff):
ro 13 + 7 = 20
ro 4 + 10 = 14

You see that he wears a pistol in shoulder holster.

CPG (spot)
ro 3 + 1 = 4

You can easily catch up with him. If you choose to do so, he is on his knees trying to pick up his cell phone when you reach him. He doesn't realize that you're after him.
